Sadly, it looks like jmanga.com is going away.

I will be sure to use up my points as much as I can by May 30. It sucks that everything "bought" there will be unreadable after that.

Can anyone recommend any legal alternatives? Thanks.

Buy real manga books, that's what I do. They're mine, publisher can't take them back!

I think I've spent over $100 on Jmanga...

*fluuuuuuuuushhhh*

That's the sound of my money going down the drain.

toddashi: Don't spend your points! It sounds like there will be some sort of reimbursement for unspent points. Spent points, on the other hand, will be totally worthless at the end of May.

This really does suck. I liked the idea of the service even if the pricing was never really where it should have been. And the Android app was a horrible broken mess. And some of the translations really weren't very good, in fact they were worse than most fan translations. OK, so there were a lot of problems. But I supported it anyway because I wanted to be a good person and do my part for a legal service that was actually giving something back to the creators (piracy is way too rampant in manga...). And here's what I get for it, a nice big F-U.

hpulley: Buying physical books is nice and all, but not everything is available as a book. Plus there are perks to digital manga. Space, for one thing. I already have shelves upon shelves upon shelves full of manga, I seriously don't need any more...

I only buy what is available as a book, in Japanese. I know there are web only series and it is the way of the future but dammit, I prefer a real book in my hands!

this really sucks for me because i had bought 60 volumes on jmanga so ive spent quite a bit and so far ive only gotten around to reading about 4 or 5 volumes. so im going to be quite busy until the end of may. And if the 60 volumes i bought had physical english copies (some do but are hard to get) I would buy them instead. I already have well over a 1000 physical manga volumes so adding more isnt a problem for me.

so does anyone know of a different place to read manga that isnt Fan translations cause i would still like to support digital manga in some way.

I am really disappointed. In my opinion this amounts to theft of 116 volumes of manga that I purchased from them in good faith.
