Okay, if you're like me and want your favorite shows of the season to continue, I REALLLLLY want to find out the official channels by which a show's popularity is scored, and therefore evaluated for continuation.

This season, I REALLLLLY (uber-want these to continue, if you get my drift, lol) want "Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East" and "Problem Children are Coming from Another World, arent' they" to continue. Neither have even touched on the potential of their stories, and MUST continue, especially since there's not really a way to view the full story past the anime. Neither are advanced in the manga and the light novel(s) aren't translated. Grrrrrr!!!!!

I LOVE anime and manga, but if there's anything that will make me stop watching anime, it's that often, there's no way to find out how the complete story ends. Take "A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives" and "Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero" for example :(

So, long story long, does anyone know the official way in which we can actually impact the ratings of our favorite shows if we're outside of Japan. I know in the US, the main ratings system is Nielsen Media, but I have no idea how we can influence foreign production, or maybe even the vote of the domestic companies that license them.

Buy the Blue-ray or DVDs when they come out is about all really. Buying the manga or novel, if the series has one, also can help. Really though, it generally depends on how well the show sells in Japan although foreign sales can have an impact if its popular enough outside of Japan.

basically what EJHicks posted above

it has mostly to do with Japanese sales
if the anime was based off of light novels or visual novels for example, the people who make the anime probably gauge to see if the anime made an increase or decrease in those books/games sales
they also look at blu-ray, dvd volume etc sales to see if it is popular enough that making another season is worth it

so I guess you can start buying and importing stuff straight from Japan if you want

You people are really stupid. The American "anime market" (if you can actually call it that) has such a small impact on the profits the Japanese producers and creators make from a series, it's almost laughable. Not only that, they couldn't give less of a shit if Americans, Europeans, etc like or don't like what they make because they are making it with a strictly Japanese demographic in mind, and are banking on those crazy fuckers to spend close to eighty dollars on a three episode blu-ray volume.

Nice insults. The rest of the world outside Japan is a secondary market for anime and manga. They don't always make it with a Japanese demographic in mind also.

Well you did say "Read the the manga". The OP said he can't find any translated versions of what he is looking for and even if he does, it isn't advanced far from where the anime left off.

I don't think fans outside Japan can really influence such things since the BD and DVD releases that we get in the West are only a tiny fraction of the price Japan pays and at the end of the day those sales are what determines if a series will continue.
Unless all the fans that buy the localizations start buying Japanese releases and a lot of them I doubt we have much input on such things.
I am not saying everybody should by any means, I mean have you seen how much those Japanese releases cost?
I think I will stick to buying the cheaper more local releases rather than bankrupt myself in an attempt to make them continue a show I like.

Yeah, for example, the Blu-Ray release of White Album (http://www.crunchyroll.com/white-album) is 34,813 Yen (366.07 USD) with the current Amazon discounts, but when I looked it up months ago it was double that (the original price), which is 69,626 Yen (729.45 USD). Just look at the prices for Fate/Zero (http://www.crunchyroll.com/fate-zero), it's even more than that (now, anyway). With import fees, you'd at least tack on an extra 2,000 Yen (20 USD) and possibly more depending on the seller. That's just one example too!

Thanks everyone for the input! I figured buying the media was about the only option, but it never hurts to ask. Guess I won't be holding my breath, but I'll be crossing plenty of fingers, toes, and eyes in the hopes of series continuation.
