Old and too late I probably am, but I am gonna write this nonetheless. Whether you liked Genesis of Aquarion, it did not deserve the sequel it got. Evol was a mash of bad animation and poor plot which falls off the cliff at episode 23 when the sequel tries to make the prequel irrelevant. A piece of garbage is all Evol is.

Mecha is a dying genre. I see mostly action, rom-coms, shoujo, slice of life coming out.

I know... seeing so many rom-coms, and shoujo makes me lose interest.

Most animes coming out at the moment are nothing more then time wastes till the good ones come out. Currently watching Zetsuen no Tempest, Magi, and Mondaijitachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo. Those three series are really good. I am really excited about K season 2.

Edit: Let me add Maoyuu Maou Yuusha to the good list. I am enjoying that one as well.

Edit: Those are noteable ones that might peak peoples interest. Kotoura-San, Sakurasou no pet no kanojo, senran kagura, Oreshura, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT are just time wasters as they aren't really good.

I thought it was funny that you thought the show "fell off the cliff" at 23... lol. I lost interest around episode 5. I *loved* the original, but I agree that it doesn't need or deserve (I guess), a sequel. It was a great yaoi-mecha parody though.

However I seriously disagree that Haganai and Kotoura-san aren't really that good... but that's opinion vs opinion, so we will just have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Is Genesis of Aquarion the same as the show "Aquarion" that was dubbed to English and available on Netflix? I thought that show was sub-par at best and the only redeeming quality was the plot line about reincarnation. I haven't watched Evol and don't intend to. My question is, if we are talking about the same anime, why did you expect the sequel of a bad show to be any good?

It's a Kawamori show with Okada working on it. Did you really expect to not get trolled?

But yes, I'll agree that they did a much better job with AKB0048.

I was five episodes in Aquarion Evol when I realized it had a sequel. Being me and like watching things in order, I put Evol on hold and started watching Aquarion. After about 5 episodes of it, all I could think about was Aquarion drew me in so much more than Evol did. I've only watch a few episodes of each and plan on watching the rest of Aquarion before returing to Evol, but so far Aquarion is better to me.

Just be careful, you'll see why I really dislike Aquarion Evol if you ever make it to episode 23.

Sorry you didn't like it, but I did. It has a lot of qualities that befit it of being a good title, animation, just a right amount of fanservice, story, characters, soundtrack. Oh and for a mecha anime, it was really decent.
