Sunohara from Clannad.

Jun from Kanon.

Even their personality is the same!
Though these are Key adaptions so all the characters are the same in all of them anyway.

Not that I don't still love Key.

Makoto Tachibana from Free! / Swimming Anime looks like an aged up, post-growth spurt / post-puberty? version of Yuuta Togashi from Chuunibyou. With muscles.

Oreki could also be there too.
I swear they're all related.
Or half brothers.
Or something.
Inexplicably, all their animes are produced by KyoAni.
So surely, the resemblance is ENTIRELY COINCIDENTAL!

Mature how? In personality or body type? Cause I think Yuuta is pretty mature. Also, manga artists studios usually have a certain style that is reflected in all of their works (CLAMP and Kyoto Animation for example).

Thus, there tend to be more than a few look-a-likes.

Masculine fits better than mature then.

As long as we're playing the precise word play game..

Mature: complete in natural growth or development, as plant and animal forms

Says dictionary.com.

Isn't it kind of redundant to point out that characters from the same character designer look alike? Half of this thread is KyoAni and Key. Doesn't that just point out their shortcomings as character designers? lol

I think it's strange that lots of character archetypes look the same. Or I suppose it's not strange, but it makes me wonder where the original archetypal design came from and why people don't try to do anything more original.

Example archetype: Cool, upstanding schoolgirl
1. Kukuri Yukizome from K and 2. Shoko Sashinami from Valvrave the Liberator

Kinda spunky looking, short brown hair, weird hair accesories in the same place. Who was the first girl that looked like this? And was it the character design itself that was influential, or the anime itself that was popular?

I wonder about these things often.

3 episodes in and I still can't tell the two mains from Gifuu Dodo apart. The only clue I have is the clothing, so every flashback has me wondering which is which. It's beyond the art style at this point. This is where green eyebrows come in handy.
