I actually like my job. I work as a licensed massage therapist, so I help a lot of people with muscle and joint pain. I love the feeling I get when they come out with a smile on their faces and sincerely thank me.
It's not a job that I'm going to stick with forever, but I enjoy it.

I work with the public. People come in, they complain to me about the cost of things, how it's stupid I ask them for an ID (People who look younger than 27) or should remember who they are because they "Come in all the time" when they buy cigarettes,. Why the debit/credit system doesn't work and it's my fault, the gas pump won't read their card and it's my fault, the machines needed to put a $100 hold on your card so you don't over pump the $100 and I'm a dirty thief just trying to steal money from you. Why don't I sell liquor. Blah blah blah blah.
I also get no assigned break, and we get no stool behind the register to sit on when it's quiet.

I don't hate or love my job. I tolerate my job because I need it, for now.

I've worked at a beer store called Twinlo. Got fired because apparently I'm doing "doing it wrong". Worked at a bakery, and got fired from that place too. Never did anything wrong at the bakery, it's that the bakers were awful to me. I've given up on jobs, but I do need one. I'm not picky, I just can't find a calling or something I'm good at. My friend told me to look into the communications field, as my personality suits it.

I can't say yet since I don't have one but I may well soon depending on whether I've passed my A levels (results this Thursday). I'd love to become an author and I have an idea for a book which I plan on starting soon. My parents won't push me too much I shouldn't think, but I pretty much have a job open since my Dad owns his own shop and he said he'll happily take me on. So my potential job will be surrounded by knives and guns and other dangerous things which the country likes to complain about. But it's safe provided you know what you're doing, and I think I should enjoy it!

I feel for ya man. Your job is pretty much identical to my old one! I used to work at a petrol station over here until this January and was there for 3 years before I got out on a temp job that I enjoyed as it was office work and I'm on my secon temp job doing summer work - all so much better than that hell hole of a place I had to tolerate for 3 years.

Except for the gas and liquor bits (I'm at a convenience/liquor store rather than a gas station), my situation is almost identical to yours. While I'll admit (with relief) that the customers we get are usually perfectly nice and friendly, we do get some bad ones, and dealing with them is a headache. Like you, I don't hate my job per se, but I don't like it either. I can't make small talk with people, which is one of the expected duties of someone working a cash register, so while I'm adept at moving long lines along very quickly, when it's slow and relaxed in the store, it's very awkward for me, because people will usually try to talk to me, and I'll fail to respond properly.

Basically, customer service is not for me. That's why I submitted my two weeks' notice yesterday. I like my coworkers, and the location is convenient, but interacting with people for such a large portion of the day just drains me. I'm looking to get started on my career now, whether that means getting a new job in the field I want to pursue, or getting a well-paying part-time job and doing freelance on the side.

LMAONOPE.

But I need it. I work in assisted living and it's dreadful. Absolutely dreadful.

However, there are really no jobs around these days...despite having a degree in Liberal Arts and Communications. I even worked freelance for awhile. I would quit if I could but I have medical coverage and at least it's steady hours. For the most part, I get along with my department.....it's everyone else that I hate.

Yea, I love what I do but I could use a new job. (same field just a different office) I'm the youngest one there by ~30 years and I don't really fit in. And most of them drive me crazy (which I know might not be any different at a new place) And there's nowhere for me to advance, so I'd have to find something if I want more money.

There are the proud/cool moments once in a while. I have homes named after me and occasionally I get emails from people thanking me and saying how happy they are.
