I've been in two hurricanes but never the eye. Anyone? What's it like? What's it like to see the eyewall?

Yes, I have. Katrina. The eye is creepily calm and quiet, but the storm is always worse after it passes. I didn't bother to look at the eyewall, though, because I don't find that sort of thing to be particularly interesting.

Yeah, I didn't realise until I saw that the local bowling alley was flying in the sky and then I decided to back into my basement

Ye, it was Hurricane Irene in 2011. It was very quiet compared to what i had been hearing before that. Due to the clear sky and the power outages I actually got to look at the stars, that was pretty amazing.

Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. I thought it was pretty neat both times. The eye wall looks pretty ominous but also very beautiful, in my opinion.

Yeah, it's so clam I've even seen birds just enjoying floating in the eye. Live in FL so hurricanes like every two years

Hurricanes don't happen in my region. Well--sometimes we get the remnants, but even that's rare. We get earthquakes instead!

Haha implying that England has any natural disasters.

I remember the big deal the news made when wind blew a couple of roof tiles off one or two buildings, and that one time we had a minor earthquake that I slept through.

Sounds cool though, I feel like I'm missing out on the excitement..

Came with the territory in Florida. Was really eerie and cool. Dad let us go outside and look at it. Was a pretty impressive moment the first time.
