Hurricane Sandy. I live on Long Island. I didn't get hit so hard. I only lost power for a week luckily.

I live in the middle of Florida, and hurricanes tend to just bounce off or follow the coast, so all I ever get are winds and the occasional bouncy tornado which have so far managed to miss me. *knock on wood*

I think that if I were in the eye of a really strong hurricane that I underestimated, I would try to keep up with it just to avoid devastation. >-<

I wonder if anyone has ever done that. =P

Hurricane Floyd back in 1999, the eye was quite an eerie experience, the storm just kinda stopped, :3.

Only one full fledged hurricane ever came to Massachusetts in my lifetime where i actually got to be in the eye (Hurricane Bob back in the 90's). It is one of the stranger things, to go from hurricane winds with hail and downpour rain to it becoming rather peaceful with the sun coming out, then boom back to the hurricane.

Very calm and quiet. You can look up and see the hole in the clouds. It's very eerie and a little scary. Live on the coast of Texas.

It was sooo bad but now we have recovered. Thank God

After living in the Caribbean through hurricane season, I've encountered MANY hurricanes, some weak ones and some like Katrina. Thankfully, that one barely hit us otherwise we'd be smashed to smithereens now (despite being in the middle of most hurricane's paths, my house's prep for a hurricane was a back up generator and bars on the windows, so stuff couldn't go through the windows).

So yeah, I've been in the eye of one many times, it's quite quiet and calm, but the part straight afterwards sure as hell wasn't! I haven't seen it either, it almost always happens during night time so I barely could tell the difference. But after living through so much hurricanes, I'm not really affected by it, unless it takes out the power grid, where I freak the hell out in the dark until it comes back again x)
