The real series Minami-ke includes a few glimpses of the fictional series Sensei and Ninomiya-kun. We don't learn much about it, but it seems ridiculous and awesome.

In the real series Nodame Cantabile, there's a fictional kids' show called Puri Gorota that Nodame likes, even though she's a college student.

Love Hina includes the (supposedly old school) fictional anime series Liddo-kun's Big Adventure, complete with merchandise of its title character.

Lucky Star and Hayate no Gotoku! reference and have many anime/game parodies in them.

but I think the ultimate animeception is Martian Successor Nadesico and Gekiganger. Gekiganger is an anime inside the Nadesico universe, while Nadesico is an anime inside the Gekiganger universe.

The nameless vampire(?) anime shown in Chrome Shelled Regios was really cool. It seemed that its main character Saya exists/existed in their real world too. Now I want to read the light novels.

Okay, so it's not really an anime but I'm going to have to say A City With No People from Chobits is my favourite example of a story-within-a-story/anime-within-an-anime/manga-within-a-manga. Not least of which because it actually had a significant reason for being there.

Distant second is Magical Girl Kyouko from To Love-Ru.

That's one of 2 I can think of. I'm going with Gunvarrel from Robotics: notes.

Even though it's not shown or brought up very often, probably the 'Mogeta' anime in Fruits Basket.

Just rewatching/reading Furuba and yay to Mogeta!! Mainly because of the way Takaya Sensei's affection for Mogeta (and all her creations really) is infectious!

Oh, and can't remember what the show is called, but in Kaichou wa MaId-Sama Suzuna and Hinata are always doing those hilarious 'hamburger-kun' impersonations!

It's not really my favorite (I only watched a few episodes of the anime itself), but scenes in which Charger Girl Ju-den Chan watches the very ecchi Sweetie Millie are pretty amusing.

From episode 1:

"This is the ultra-rare anime Sweetie Millie, which got canceled after the public complained, and the sponsors and the TV station got into a big fight!"
