So i was just wondering what would make any of you play Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn? I know its going to be subscription based and i personally don't have the money to pay $15 monthly thats why I worked out a deal with my parents but what will make you play it?
P.S I also think that the sound track is pretty amazing which is another great touch

I'm pretty sure I will not try it again, I've been on FFXIV since the early alpha began a few years ago, went through the beta and bought the game on day one of the release.
A week after release I canceled my subscription and uninstalled the Beta which they dared to release as retail for the sake of bringing a product on the market before their shareholders meeting and went back to FFXI.

Of course afterwards I have been following the development of FFXIV because one of my best RL buddies still plays it religiously and kept me up to date.
I've seen what they did to Eorzea, how the world ended and I must say I was very impressed.
I still am, and I hear really good things about it from several people.

However as it stands now I still play FFXI, after these almost 9 years (with the occasional break or vacation) I still have fun with both old and new content of this game, I am a fairly accomplished player and an officer in one of the top endgame linkshells (guilds) which has many very cool people in it with whom I share not only game time but can also turn to when something in real life is bothering me.
I have forged many friendships, accomplished many things on my main character and have many, many years of both good and bad but treasured memories in it.
With the new expansion being released next week it'll keep me occupied for at least the next year as well.

But I don't think I will pick up another MMO again, even after I quit playing FFXI.

If they make it closer to the original or FFXI I'll play it. Too much of a WoW style game now...very disappointed.

Monthly subscription.
Final Fantasy XIV will cost $13 or $15 per month to play depending on which subscription plan you take.

I've all ready played years of WoW and have moved on, unless this game is largely different, I think i'll pass on this one.

A lot of people are also complaining about that on the beta forums, people aren't waiting for SE's to make another WoW clone of which there are too many already.
A friend of mine where I was over the weekend also told me:
"It's like they took all the good things they added to the original game, tossed those out of the window and replaced them with the WoW system."

He let me play a little on his account as well and aside from the different world, less cartoony graphics and the catgirls I have to agree with him.

If they had sent me a beta key already I would be playing right now. Imagine if it will be cross platform to consoles linking pc, that would make it even better.

I'll play, but only on one of two conditions
1. When I Burn In Hell
2. When Square Enix decides to get the stick out of their ass and release a FINAL FANTASY 7 REMAKE.

If SE do decide to remake FF7 it be wrong in my eyes. Yeah they can make it look good and all. But I get the impression they would fix all the things that make FF7 great.

As for a realm reborn. I'm in two mind on if I end up getting it. Stuck between this or elder scrolls online. A realm reborn is going to look stunning compared ESO, but it's more about game play/community that's going to be the main factor to me

Yeah, if you want a 7 remake, just check out this quote from WP. I personally don't want updated graphics, it would take away the memories and nostalgia of a truly iconic game.

On July 4, 2012, Square Enix revealed that a PC re-release was forthcoming. It was subsequently released on August 14. The game features 36 new achievements to be unlocked, "Cloud Saves", and a "Character Booster" feature. This remasterization for modern PCs was developed by DotEmu[57] and is available exclusively via the Square Enix store. The game can be played at Full HD (1920x1080) resolution, but does not feature revamped graphics.[58] The release is primarily aimed to port the classic game into a downloadable game to be run on modern Windows OSs (XP/Vista/7) and DirectX 9.0c.[59]

On the topic of ARR, only if it has some sort of socializing akin to SWG. I played a lot of SWTOR, but the lack of anything to do but quest/kill or idle while paying $15 a month annoyed me.
