I have never played any of the Final Fantasy MMORPGs before. I have played many MMORPGs too.

I used to play Maplestory and Mabinogi the most. ARR just seems like a better game in my opinion which makes me want to play it. XD

I'm interested in the housing at the moment. I love the fact that you as a player can make an actual change to the game world by constructing and decorating your own property. So glad that FFXIV ARR is going that route.

I'm a Legacy player, so it would be something of a waste if I didn't play, since it'll be cheaper for me, and I've been enjoying the early look via the running beta.

Honestly, the game is vastly improved as of the current beta, though I obviously can't go into details because of the NDA (assuming it's still in effect, since I've been working during the last few windows of play-time). I enjoyed the original FFXIV to an extent, but it was absolutely nothing compared to FFXI, which I played for over four years to the point of having accomplished everything there was to accomplish at the time that I decided to leave.

Based on the new direction they're taking FFXIV:ARR, it has incorporated elements inspired by recent sensations in the PC MMO industry to marvelous effect, and I'm rather looking forward to the completed world...and my awesome chocobo that I get for being a Legacy player.

Fact is, there aren't many MMOs that strike my fancy right now, so I'm just hoping FFXIV:ARR will do it for me. Phantasy Star Online II is going to be a mainstay for me, but a game running on a free-to-play model will always have its limitations (something that GW2 proved for me), and I always loved the challenge of rising to the upper echelons of the in-game community that comes with games like Final Fantasy XI and XIV, as well as WoW (back when gear wasn't being handed out simply for showing up), EverQuest and others of their ilk.

I'm not going to get my hopes up too far, because it's still possible that FFXIV:ARR will bomb, but based on how much fun I've been having in my limited time with the ongoing beta environment, I can't really see that happening. They've done a fantastic job with the remodel, and I'm looking forward to finding friends to explore and conquer Eorzea with once the game goes live.

I'm the same way with that... If it was free the play, I might touch it.

As someone who played FFXI for 5 years or so I was really excited for FFXIV, then it bombed and I was super disappointed. Now I'm in the beta testing for Realm Reborn and couldn't be more excited for the re-release. It really is reborn and feels nothing like the disappointing initial release.

I can see why people would rather have a free ride and get a free game. I have found that there are many pitfalls in all the freemium games I play (even when I sink some cash into them) so I am all for paying a monthly fee so I can have something quality, something with substance, and with players who actually are slightly more motivated to be there other than freeloading. Besides, I'd rather skip eating lunch out once or a few trips to starbucks and enjoy this.

Hopefully the NDA is lifted soon and I'll post some pics and stuff from beta hope to see some of you there when it comes out!

Well not to long until phase 3 and the release date too.

As for ARR being a p2p, I think is a good thing. most f2t actually rip people off, with their in built shops. I know you don't have to buy anything from their shops, but you could end up paying more a month on a f2t than a p2p. Also f2t games need to find some way to fund their servers, other wise the plug will get pulled. I remember reading a article last month, were a f2t dev actually said if f2t mmo's dont start charging monthly fees, they will have to pull the plug. But thats a few years away now, as if you think about it. Game dev and servers cost money

Yeah basically any game that is fully p2p has to be good.

But as far as whether if I play this or not really depends on how the game impresses me in the beta testing which hopefully I will be apart of in phase 3 which I heard should be out by June. And playing it on PC isn't an issue because I'm getting it for PS3
