You guys have the wrong idea.

America is split into many groups. I don't think there is ONE person in America that would disagree that Yankees (New Yorkers, city folk in general) are very rude.

But down here in the country it's a different story. I've been to New York and I couldn't stand it. The people are incredibly rude, nobody spoke to you, everyone seemed angry and things that are common in the south (saying hi to your neighbors, opening doors for others, smiling) are missing in the north.

So I can understand city folk being rude but not those of us in the country.

Not all Americans are rude, but alot are <-- this is the general consensus I'm seeing, and it's true. I know alot of people who are courteous, friendly, and just in high-spirits whereever they go. And then there's some people who are always having a bad day, in a hurry, and could care less if they bumped into you, yet if they cause a fender bender, it is totally your fault and you should be yelled at like a child.

Sounds like your girlfriend was discriminated against several times and that really sucks - I wouldn't expect someone from another country to be treated so badly, especially since, unless she has a noticable accent, she could fit right in (but then, I guess that's exactly why guys were being so forward with her) - but seeing as some citizens within the country are still being discriminated against, I guess I shouldn't expect people to treat guests of our country any higher, sad to say.

She should really give America another chance though, maybe go check out some other states. Your location says D.C. so I'm thinking you spend some time in N. Va and Maryland? If so, I live in that area too, and I know there are alot of asses out here, and going to school in Richmond hasn't shown too much improvement. But I'm sure that isn't the case for all of Va or the rest of the states for that matter :]

yes, I think Americans are rude, they are too blunt, and most base thier opinions on sterotype... not everything needs to be said out loud, have some class!

blunt .. i think its just being truth full .. i think its better then say o i love ur shirt and then think yo wtf is she doing did u not look at herself today lol ... but thats wat i think =P

Blunt was just a lighter complaint against the americans, what is worst is thier constant picking on other contries, ie China.

You probably are and you don't know it. Come to Texas or anywhere away from the city and see if you consider us nicer than city folk.

But when you drive on the Freeways, Texans are assholes. They expect that they get the right away when they do a three lane change in front of you.
