From a "complete series" perspective, it would have to be the authentic region 1 release of Rurouni Kenshin - the box set cost me $180.00US brand new, since it's been out of print for a few years now.

Otherwise, both the North America DVD releases of Bleach and Naruto Shippuden have been steadily hitting my wallet as I pay about $30.00US for each set as they release in their quarterly intervals.

This doesn't apply to me but my friend bought the entire Kara no Kyoukai Blu-Ray box set... when it was out of stock. And it costed her about $1100 (without shipping).

And the series itself is well over $300 when it was in stock...

I really cannot believe that would cost so much, should of have went with the free way.

I can't blame her, she's a huge fan of the series and really wants to support the industry, though I'm pretty sure Aniplex might do another rerelease of the entire show when Mirai Fukuin gets released and licensed.

The new Lacus Clyne figurine by megahouse, I think it was. Cost me 87, but shipping and all that fun stuff ended up being 100 for it.

Actually, it may not be what you're looking for in an answer, but they do have a DVD complete boxset of the entire movie series plus ovas for $150. Which reminds me I should pick that up sometime.

Am I the only one wondering where 15 year old kids are getting 200 dollars+ to spend on anime?

Probably about 50 quid on the brotherhood boxset.

No, you aren't the only one wondering that. They could get money from their parents and from neighbors (ie chores, mowing lawns, etc.) and they save it up to buy whatever anime they wish. If it were me though at that age (I was broke then, still am actually ) I would save it for college or something more important. Then again, maybe anime is super important to them.

Now, back on topic, the most expensive item I've ever purchased that was anime related was... hmmmm.....

Everything from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya that was animated that I know of and is available for purchase. That includes:

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 1
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
The Melancholy of Haruhi-Chan Suzumiya Part 1
The Melancholy of Haruhi-Chan Suzumiya Part 2
Nyoron Churuya-san Part 1
Nyoron Churuya-san Part 2

For a total of 141.20 USD

Previously it was my Puella Magi Madoka Magica Blu-Rays Parts 1, 2, & 3. I didn't bother buying the Limited Editions because frankly, it wasn't worth it and I've content with just owning the show itself. Since it was a show I rather enjoyed and because it was short, I went with the Blu-Ray version instead of the DVD version like I had initially planned, but that's miscellaneous information really.

Garden of Sinners (Kara no Kyōkai) 149.99 (USD). Evens out to about twenty bucks per but still most I've spent on a single item at one time.
