My housemates are pretty awesome. We do our fair share of chores, and we also try hard not to disturb others. I like my housemates; they are friendly and respectful.

dude, i know how you feel.
i thought two of my ex-roommates were my friends. i was willingly to help them as much as i can, but in the end, they backstab me and leaving me out of the loop.
it was my freshmen year, never dealt with those situation before. i cry because i never thought there are people can trash friendship like that, but then i got over it.

Living with people has a tendency to make you hate them, even if you were really good friends beforehand

I'm only 15 so I have no roommate story to share. All I gotta say is that I would be too scared to have my video games lying around alone in a room that another person can easily enter. I wouldn't be able to take it. Especially with that douchebag you're with.

I live with 4 guys and I have a single. The walls in the house is so thin and all our bedrooms are basically right next each other. They sleep hella late and I can hear them screaming/yelling when they play LoL or when they bump up their music hella loud like in 2AM. I'm tryna sleep here 'cause I have to attend lecture the next morning, but apparently, they don't get it. Also, they never wash their dishes or the pans they used to cook with. AND THEY NEVER THROW AWAY THE GARAGE BIN. It really pisses me off. Like wtf, you guys piled that sht up and you just leave it there and when I do tell them about, they don't even care. Ugh. AND THE TOILET SITUATION. Boy, I have the courtesy to lift that toilet seat up when I'm done using it. You should fine the decency to lift the toilet seat up before you pee everywhere. I hate that. It's so annoying. And I don't like the fact that they take my food without telling me. I mean I'm not stingy about my food, I like to share, but I would like it if you told me or asked me of you could have some of my snacks or something. Instead, I gotta find out that I have food missing.

Wow thats a bit ridiculous. And stealing your food? I can put up with a lot of stuff, but if someone lays a hand on my food, there will be blood.

AND THEY NEVER THROW AWAY THE GARAGE BIN

You should be lucky they never threw the bin away, otherwise you would just be throwing trash on the floor!

BTW OP, do you go to OSU?

Naw I go to a D3 school because I wanted to play soccer. But I assume you want me to pick a side between Michigan and Ohio State. So all I have to say is...

I can't stand anyone but I live with roommates. Some of them have girlfriends that pretty much live in the house. I drink much beer and hide in my own world listening to j-pop (with headphones of course), watch anime, and read comics when I'm not sleeping or working. If and when I can afford to live in a place alone I will. Until then, cheers

My parents insist that I have a roommate next year when I go off to college even though I've made it clear that I would prefer a single.

Oh my goodness, was this thread built for me?

I'm renting a den of a family's house. Let me tell you something about this family... they are disgusting! Incredibly disgusting! They have expired food in their cupboard from 3 years ago and old food in their fridge from who knows when. It stinks like crazy up there. The little 2 year old daughter runs around carrying her pee/poop from her potty trainer when she's done. When she wears diapers and they change her, they just toss the dirty diaper onto the kitchen floor. The grandma will cook food and then use the outside porch as a refrigerator (which is smart), BUT leaves everything uncovered ( I live in Seattle, so can you imagine how much rain and dead bugs get in there?) then will heat it up a week later and eat it. The thing is though, they get a cleaner to come in here once a week and as soon as she leaves the house, it's back to how it was. People came in to shampoo the carpet right after the cleaner came and they thought the family forgot they were coming because it was so messy... it was an HOUR between the cleaner leaving and them coming. The cleaner does a wonderful job of cleaning too!

What's worst is that they will come into MY downstairs den and trash it. The father will bring his buds down here, drink beer, and play mahjong, THEN just leave everything (including empty cans) right there. His friend will also sometimes just sleep in my living room area without me knowing, until I see the mess he left.

I hate this place. Save me someone.

My roommates are chill can't complain. I am the youngest at 21 while the others are like 24, 25, 27 and they are cool. When I got there as their new roommate for they have been together for the past 2 years, they welcomed me properly and now we got along tremendously! I appreciate that from them. They are clean and what not. We all keep to ourselves in our respective bedrooms. We live in an apartment on campus brand new (2 year old apartment buildings). My roommate across from me is wildlife major and has reptiles in his room. They are wicked awesome and they don't bug me even if he has cockroaches in a bucket. As a transfer student to a university, I must say I experienced a great first semester with my roommates

wow sorry but I feel you have the crappiest home setting I have ever heard of. I am reaching the end of the road to be a social worker and in this case, I notice that that family has issues trailing back to their childhood. The grandmother doesn't seem to care for anyone with regards of sanitation. They have a 2-year old living in filth, and a bad exposure to the environment in the house. It is definitely possible for the child to be removed from the home.
I hope your situation progresses. Be strong!

Right?? I'll be moving out as soon as I get enough funds to provide for myself in a different rooming arrangement. They let me stay here for very cheap since they are kind of family friends. You'd be surprised at how rich they are considering how they live! It all started when the grandmother moved into here; they used to be OCD clean. Haha.

They're also ALWAYS sick, which isn't surprising at all. I stay to myself, very clean and tidy in my area and am never sick.
