16 episodes I thought so... two more which would end on All Hallow's Eve. But that contradicts the 2nd week of November that was mentioned earlier so either they skip some weeks or it is 18 episodes for season 1???

Ep 14

Jaune's arc better be freakin over now, not my favorite character

And yes! Weiss got a few lines this episode and most of it was insulting Ruby, that's the Weiss I know and love

I like Jaune but I do hope his mini arc is over now. I feel like the members of RWBY have taken a bit of a hit from so much focus on JNPR recently. I mean I'm still waiting for Blake to get any real character development. For one of the titular characters she has some of the least amount of character in the entire cast......

I think the main issue with RWBY has finally dawned on me. It's a kids' show. It's completely wholesome, most episodes are based around standard sappy life lessons, and there's very little plot outside of a bunch of kids at magic-school doing the same things kids do at regular school. Nothing about it is made to appeal to adults or older teenagers.

I think it's decent, taking that into account. The fights are usually fun. But it has even less emotionally-mature content than most American kids' shows, let alone Japanese ones. So it's not surprising that a lot of people find it boring. And I guess the expectation was that the we're-in-school-and-growing-up arc wouldn't be the entire show, but it looks like it is.

And all those Japanese animation works set in schools aren't the same thing? I'm finding this "mature" argument rather amusing and fleeting. After seeing hordes and hordes of Japanese animation school settings - we finally get a college based series in Golden Time (of which I've yet to start it). Even if they're not set in schools, many of them feature "teens", which is the age range of these RWBY characters.

A more accurate comment -- especially in the case of Jaune and the issue of bullying in school -- this is stuff we can relate to, either by experience and/or witness accounts. So, the difference is simply the variation of school settings. Many of us cannot relate to the Japanese school system, with all those festivals, student councils, school uniforms, etc. That's because many of us did not attend their schools and grow up in those settings.

Now, I'll give this "mature" thing some merit by asking these questions:

1. Will some character be killed off? There IS fighting involved, right?
2. Do we see the character's careers after graduation from the academy?
3. If the series ends before graduation, do we see the characters thrust into some kind of serious situation? After all, there are those bad guys out their with their plots and stuff.

In the case of item #3, the trailer featuring Yang did show a setting in a dance club, run by a mafia-like group. If more of that comes along later on, then this so-called "maturity" setting goes up a couple notches.

Oh, and now that I had watched the latest episode, I am reminded that creatures are getting beheaded. Show me a "kiddy cartoon" that does that. Though, it'll make me wonder if the same fighting techniques will be used against humanoid enemies. Hopefully, we'll see that in the future.

Unfortunately, some fanservice isn't used on any of the girls, as Monty Oum opted not to do so. But at least, we get to see some cleavage here and there.

Jean's Semblance might be pretty dangerous for him.

When his powers activated the bruises he got from Jerk boy vanished, but after the fight they came back.

I am thinking he might have the ability to delay his damage until the fighting is over. It's one heck of a Tank power but it also means that if he takes too much during the fight he could be dead the second his power shuts down.

Hmm, that's a good observation there!

Another possible alternative is that they just screwed up again in the animation, and his bruises on his face weren't supposed to come back, lol (and were supposed to be fully healed - just like how that cut on his face seemingly healed when Pyyrha first unlocked his aura - unless that was another delayed-damage kind of thing). I know I've seen it at least a couple of times where they made mistakes in the animation! XD

No new ep today, but on the Roosterteeth.com site:

"Since there is no new episode of RWBY coming out today (explained in Miles' journal entry), we decided to do something special. At 5 PM CT today, we're going to be live streaming with some of the RWBY crew! Miles, Kerry, and some other people will be taking your questions until 6 PM CT. Join us on YouTube.com/RoosterTeeth (available for all to watch) or in the Sponsor Chat, where we'll be taking questions to answer on air!"

So we can comment, too, on the livestream, which is pretty cool! Anyway, I guess I'll be heading over there now!

All I know is that I am working on a Ruby cosplay outfit for anime cons this year. I will have to make a folded up version of Crescent Rose though. Her innocent and cute "Nope" over and over again to Jaune in episode 13 kinda sealed the deal that I wanted to go Ruby over the others (I can keep my usual glass half full attitude).

I have been enjoying this series and while I am sad that there does seem to be a lack of action, the down parts have been pretty entertaining. I can not wait for the double episodes next week.
