No, that role would not suit me. However, I would rather be the second-in-command and only if I accept the ruler as a competent individual. For example, if Lelouch Vi Britannia had a real-life counterpart, I would gladly serve as his right-hand man.

I would like to "recreate" the world, but not necessarily control it. Changing things I see that feel corrupt to me and then giving up my position.

Certainly not. No one man can rule a civilization. More importantly, no one man should rule one.

I myself would crumble under the pressure. But maybe some of you tough guys out there can manage.

Some people solace themselves in the discomfort of others. Usually because they feel bad themselves, and want other to feel their pain. Misery loves company in a nutshell. However, some bullies are just sadistic for no reason other than for pure enjoyment,

Sure. Its good to be the king.

It is also a pain in the ass. I think the perks would make it worthwhile though.

And lets face it, our "leaders" are morons. I'm quite confident that I could do a better job.

That and historically, the best governments have been benevolent monarchies. The only problem with a monarchy is that it is impossible to keep them benevolent. A good king defends the rights of his people and brings prosperity. His kid, having grown up with royal perks, might grow up to be a spoiled douche though. It is that lack of oversight that caused us to do away with monarchies.

And for those who say they couldn't rule or that one man can't know it all, that is absolutely true. The first thing a good leader does is surround himself with -- and heed the advice of -- competent advisers. The better the people you gather around you, the better and more stable your rule will be.

If I had the worlds entire resources on my fingertips. What would I do? Something good? ....but that is just wishthinking...
The balance is inrestorable. The shortest straw people gets what the longest straw people had. The longest straw people takes the shortest draw in second turn. Just an endless cycle. Like moving the problem elsewhere but it is still there and consuming. I gave up on that for a long time ago. Maybe someone could set an example instead. Something that would make people remember. At least I have not given upon my life. That is something. I actually have my ambitions.
