They'll come back. If you consider that the director, Takamatsu, along with his entire staff are magnificent at trolling, tied to the knowledge that all of Sorachi sensei's characters are rather adept in the art themselves, this kind of stunt isn't exactly surprising.

A winning combination you might say.

Out of curiosity does anyone know how the Gintama Benzikaura rehash sold outside of Japan?

I'm hoping it did so they release it overseas quicker

they didn't sell it subbed in america, it's dubbed only. it's awful. i STRONGLY advise you not to watch it and/or buy it.

A dub really won't work with a show like Gintama, even if the voices are good. Too many references to Japanese culture and whatnot. I also found it kind of funny reading some comments regarding the dub, one said "This sounds like voiceover crap again". Dubs in general are voice overs.. though I'm sure he was referring to fandubs but still..

Anyway, I thought the English voice for Toshiro Hijikata was spot on..

Also, they do sell it in US subbed. As well as the graphic novels.

Its a shame they stopped releasing it at Volume 23 though. Only just got up to buying that one tooT-T

I got Gintama the movie when it came out in the UK December last year and you do have both the sub and the dub to choose from.

Personally I didn't think the dub was that bad considering they had to cast for an one off movie where the series is unlikely to be dubbed.

Although surfer hasegawa at the end did go right through me.

Hopefully the second movie performs awesome in Japan and we dont have to wait two years again

I just got done watching the movie... and the english dubs were painful to listen to, and I was excited to actually have anything Gintama being dubbed... but after subconsciously listening to the japanese actors for 201 episodes... never again will I ever ask Gintama to be dubbed ever again....

It felt like I purchased an audiobook and they paid some guy to read it to me :-/

It's the same here in Australia. It was released in dubbed and subbed. I bought it on the day that it came out, which was my uncle's birthday. The dub was painful to listen and ditto to that. It made me wish to neck myself a little bit. I love all the seiiyuus they have on the series. I thought it was good personally since I like Gintoki and Kagura lots but I like Sougo and Madao's seiiyuu. I wish they never made the dub. Jokes become really lame pretty quick with the English version.

On the actual note of series ending, I just hope this isn't the end. I got pretty worried about the news. I hope Sorachi-sensei would write more manga.

Im pretty sure that i read somewhere some weeks ago that the movie will be the last animation.
I think it was sorachi himself which said that with the movie and the title of the movie it would be last movie but also the end of the anime, but the manga will continue...

No offence to anyone but Gintama is like a tumor that just wont go away, if it does go away then it comes back sooner or later its all ready been like 2-3 times that they told us that its was "over" then when another season starts and they either have some weird time skip episode or they argue why they are back so yea...

The title "Gintama: The Movie: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorozuya" appears to be the end of Gintama, as it is written by Sorachi himself.

That is not to say the manga ends there. This means the series can go for a really long time until Sorachi decides to wrap up the series with an already established ending.

Whether this is the last Gintama anime is up in the air. If the Gintama characters say this is the end, you can't trust it (as it is the writing staff making stuff up). If the actual production staff (ie-Yoichi Fujita) or Sunrise states that is the end (legit announcement), then it is the end.

Expect a long hiatus into 2014.

If Gintama were to end then what type of ending would the anime AND manga have?

The entire series is about Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura taking on odd jobs and more importantly helping people. I know the series have an antagonist, along with so many things unknown about Gintoki and few others just curious to how this will all end. Gintama WILL have an ending but how it ends is questionable.

Everyone will get older and some things we remain while other things change a bit. Gintama will be back with more episodes because it's left unfinished. When it does end I hope the ending goes out with a bang.......no trolling intended.

Just my opinion on things.

Gintama is celebrating its 10th year All hail Gorilla-sensei And actually Sorachi has been given the honor to draw the spines of every volume in Shounen Jump in 2014 in celebration of its 10 years, an honor never given to any other SJ mangaka (yes, that includes those of Bleach, Naruto, and even One Piece) . Soooo I'm holding out hope the anime will resume!

Also the Gintama merchandise for next year is coming in by bucketloads.

and the 2nd movie dvd is coming out in 5 days... which means we'll see the raws soon
