It's a good medium to get in contact with people. I pretty much use it to chat with people and to organise events, the rest is kinda there... i'd almost say it's novelty. i do enjoy looking through pictures my friends upload though.

Pretty much this. It's convenient as hell for getting in touch with people.
Personally though I make it a point to be very selective about who I add as a friend on Facebook. I know there are people who will add anybody and everybody, but almost invariably they end up having a miserable time on Facebook. Most of my friends on FB are people I've met IRL or are at least local. Sure I follow some bands and stuff but for the most part I'm there for my friends. And I post photos that I take at cons and stuff there.

For every good facet of Facebook (keeping tabs on friends) there's a dozen things wrong with it (constant ad spam, irrelevant posts by friends of friends on what they ate for lunch, etc).

Now we can look forward to advertisement videos everytime we log onto facebook in the near future.

I think it's Pathetic and people should teach themselves to visit friends Face To Face instead of on a computer screen.
Plus everyone boasts about how great there lives are and what there doing but in reality they make Shit up to cover how boring
there lives really are, how ever this doesn't apply to all users of Face Book, I'm just pissed off right now.

Facebook can sometimes be helpful...you know, for that one cousin who annoys the crap out of you and you don't ever want to see again.

I've found it to be useful for keeping in touch with relatives who live in different states, & old friends/professors/coworkers. I have friends who are actively involved in interesting organizations & share relevant, informative articles etc. as well that I would otherwise not have known about.

I use it to keep in touch with people I have met through life. I have a small group of friends on facebook that I consistently communicate with and keep in touch with. The majority of my facebook-friends are actually relatives and close friends. If I don't know you, I won't add you as a friend.

I personally greatly dislike Facebook, because they don't know how to follow their own policy rules when stuff gets reported; either that or their policy is so badly written that it allows them to just ignore everything. I've had to block people and unfollow pages because they would post inappropriate pictures or say disgusting stuff like, "why hasn't the jews been killed yet?" I both reported the person who said that and asked them to remove it. In the end it didn't get removed and I had to block the person because they sent me a nasty message in response to me asking them to remove their comment.

The only reason I even bother to stay on Facebook is because of friends and family. If it weren't for that, I would have already left or never even bothered to make one in the first place. I also make it a point of mine to only accept friend requests from people I've personally met, unless it's family that lives out of state (this being the only exception).

My relatives used it to vent their frustrations about their love lifes.
My acquaintances used it to post "enlightening" quotes.

I don't give a damn on what they post but they still get offended when no one or not enough responds to their posts.

The only reason I have Facebook is to see what other people are doing without actually interacting with them lol
