The saddest part of all of it is that there are people who do actually care about what a person is doing or feeling or saying at any given point in a day. Thus the ego boost which the person loves and wants to continue.

More and more people these days don't like face to face relationships. Their definition of "hanging out" is logging on facebook or twitter or other social site at the same time. I cringe at stories where people only learn of a family members death by reading it on facebook.

Positive things that benefit me, or what I like from Facebook
✯ When I lose my phone, or break my phone, I can usually contact ANYONE via Facebook. (Except my grandparents. They're technophobes.)
✯ I can contact friends who I haven't seen in YEARS.
✯ Along with the previous one, I can keep in touch with close friends who have moved away.
✯ I can like pages, and even create pages that I enjoy.
✯ The recent update where users can add what they're doing to their status. I don't know why, I've had so much fun with that lately.
✯ I can turn off the chat too keep some pesky friends who bug me. I'm too nice to delete them.

Negative things I dislike about Facebook
✯ Those "Swag" pages. (Or as I, and many others, like to call 'em, "Swag Fag") I have some friends on Facebook who just spam likes of those overly dramatic pictures through my news feed.
✯ I usually have friends who post vague/depressing statues to get attention, and I wonder why I'm friends with them. Not on Facebook... In real life.
✯ Part of the recent update. I don't like how the status box is on the right now. I'm still not used to it. =_=

Facebook is a useful networking tool. But too many people don't see it as a networking tool and use it like a fricken diary. I hate when people update their status 4+ times a day about all the meaningless crap that everyone else is also posting about. Ie. sports, politics, religion, cars, etc.

What happened to all the INTERESTING day-to-day life updates? I guess the food picture fad is still in. I'm okay with that one.

I somewhat agree but that's the not point. I use it to keep in touch with my friends. I don't really read anything what they post however if a few of them won't stop posting stupid/pointless posts then I just hide them and put them on "Only important." After that, nothing I can see from them unless I check their walls.

Guess what? Don't use it if you don't like it! It's as simple as that.

Facebook is designed for people to share random crap about their lives. So stop complaining when you see random crap on Facebook.

From my personal experience....

When I want to get a significant amount of work done, I will remove Facebook from my bookmarks. While not visiting Facebook for 17 days, I wrote well over 75k words for a manuscript I was working on, thus completing the 1st draft. In other words, if you want to get some serious work done, remove Facebook from your life. It is nothing but a distraction. I don't need to know that my cousin is having chicken for dinner and I could care less if your dog bit a hole into your garden hose. If someone dies or something serious happens, then call me. Otherwise, I don't need the hassle.

I like it to communicate with friends but sometimes it just annoys me the most part being when people directly ignore you, sure i understand it but why have friends who ignore ?

I don't get on Facebook much anymore, though I do use it every month or so to keep in touch with people, usually to post well-wishes at the New Year or the holidays, or if someone gets married, stuff like that. A lot of my friends use it to post pictures and stories about their daily lives, or to post funny stories/pictures they find around the net, which is entertaining in its own way, but not something I regularly sign on for.

Do people really think I want to know when , what, and where they are eating, going the bathroom and sleeping? ohhh wait... Make sure to post when you are leaving your house and where you are going, I really like your electronics, and need to know when I can come take em.
I'm sure you won't miss them, you will be too busy posting a pic of what you are having for dinner.

It's true. 90% of Facebook's content is that. Noise.
