Skip Beat! - The way of the drawing made me expect a story of nothing, but interesting story imo.

Baka and Test.: Found it on Netflix and me and my wife made fun of it due to it's really dumb description. Then we watched it and it became one of our all time favorites.

If you're going to write some of the title in english, write it all in english.
"Idiot and test".

As for me:
Madoka Magica.
I was expecting it to be just another glittery, sugary cute magic girl anime.
I was very surprised by how dark it was.
And great plot.
But it's overrated

What's it called in Norway? Because here I consistently see it titled as Baka and Test.

Baka is the japanese word for idiot.
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, the japanese title.
"To" = And.
The Idiot, the Tests, and the Summoned Creatures,

In norwegian the title woould be "Idioten og testene og innkalte skapninger". But people will of course just call it by it's japanese title, "Baka to Test" or "BakaTest".

All sport anime; I'm primarily about action/Shounen- naruto, OP, Hellsing etc..

But then Hajime No Ippo, Eyeshield 21, Hikaro No Go, Prince of Tennis really got me hooked.

Trying to think back to the anime I first watched- when I was sceptical of the genre...

Think it was howls moving castle or dragonball???

I watched the first 7 minutes of the first episode of Kotoura san and, anticipating another anime like Madoka Magika, I quickly watched something else. Out of the compelling desire to cry, I decided to try watching it through, and, though it definitely wasn't what I had expected, I now want to slap myself for being so stupid!

Also Clannad, thought it was going to be some cheesy forgettable high school romance

^ Agree on Clannad. I always heard so much hype about it. I started watching it, saw the animation style and thought: "this is going to be a loooonngggggg ride" (this was my first time ever viewing anything based on a Key visual novel. So, yes, I definitely regret having those thoughts to this day). But boy was I wrong. One of the most heart-wrenching anime I've watched so far. It's definitely special.

PlanetES, Stein's;gate, Tatami Galaxy, Big O and Trigun all started slow (either plotwise or pacing wise) but ended amazingly...I don't know if I really underestimated them but I wasn't expecting what I got and that is a good thing!

It was the first show to every make me cry

I've watched through the whole show at least 4 times now
Can't wait to start Little Busters, I'm bit scared of it though after having seen Clannad and Angel Beats...
