There's a couple of tats i've been thinking about getting.

The main one, which i've wanted for a few years now, is the word "Invictus" which i'd like to get tattooed on my left forearm. I first heard the poem when I was going through some really rough times and it's always resonated with me to the point that "Under the bludgeoning's of chance my head is bloody but unbowed." has become something of a motto for my life.

The other one that i've recently starting thinking about is a black triangle on my wrist, and i'm not really sure why I suddenly want one but I just do. Probably gonna hold off on that one for a while so I can be sure I really do want it and i'm not just suddenly interested because i've been listening to too much Weezer.

I have two, one on each arm. The one on my right arm is the seal insignia that is on Naruto's stomach, the Eight Trigrams Sealing Style; and the one on my left arm is the Anbu Black Ops tattoo, inspired from Kakashi's. I got them when I was 18, I am 21 now. Parents were OK with it, as long as it wasn't something Satanic they didn't care, lol.

I'd love a tattoo. I just can't think of any design I'd want permanently inked into my skin.

Perhaps the Drake Equation: N = R* fp ne fl fi fc L

The Drake Equation estimates the number of possible "detectible" solar systems within our milky way galaxy that could harbor life.

The problem is that the equation needs to be revisited as it was written in the late 1960s.

I think you could do the equation as it stands. It still represents that concept. And I think that first equation would be more special because it was the original quest to explore that possibility

I'd feel really Awkward walking around with an outdated equation. That would be analogous to walking around with an insane clown posse tattoo. Who listens to insane clown possee anymore?

I understand. It is your tattoo. It doesn't matter what it is, only what it means to you. My sister got a butterfly because she thought it was pretty. I would never just put a pretty picture on my body. I have to live with my tattoos for the rest of my life so I made sure they were meaningful to me. It is a cool concept for a tattoo though, even if needs to be updated.

Funny before I went to college in Philly, my mom said don't go getting any tats, now im the only one in my family without one, since I don't like needles and am extremely picky. My father did have this idea once that we should make a family crest and he, my brother, and myself should all get it. I took that idea and drew my own personal crest, but the only artist who style I like enough is in NYC, plus it be like a 3hr session, and pretty expensive. I think i'll get it eventually when I have cash to waste.

You know, the funny thing about having cash to waste is that you end up not wanting to waste it.

I have a few. In chronological order: a black sword in the small of my back, a little red fox on my left shoulderblade, a deconstructed English handbell on my right arm, a flock of sparrows on the right side of my neck, and a larger, Japanese-inspired fox on my left arm.
I'm not crazy about all of them, but even if removal weren't so expensive and unreliable I wouldn't bother with it. Sometime I might consult with an artist about adding some embellishments. I will probably also get more, though it'll have to be pretty significant since I'm running out of prime real estate.

Adding to the pile of advice people have been giving:
Designing your own tattoo is great, but even better is designing it with the artist who'll be putting it on your skin. A good tattoo artist will be able to optimize a design in ways you might not have thought of, and will bring their own artistic strengths to it to make sure that it will be their best work.

And to the boyfriend who says that girls with tattoos are trashy: not many tattoos are trashier than a dude who thinks he can decide what a person can or can't do with their own self.

I currently have 4 tattoos, two of them are a Triforce on my ankle, song of storms on my arm. I'm definitely going to get more tattoos later on! It's quite addictive once you start getting inked
