I have a friend that watches things like Death Note.

He moved away, but he still was one of my best friends!

That's the only actual person I was friendly with in real life that watched anime.

None, all my friends say its Gay, or jump to conclusions about it, so i tend to not mention anything about anime around them.

Only people i have to talk to about are some people i know online

My friends know I watch anime, but I hardly talk about it with them. It's not that I'm embarrassed about it, but I just don't really feel like talking about it. It's more like, it's not really important to talk about. They don't really think much about it, just another show. If a friend, both in real life and online, wants to know about a funny anime or something, I'll tell them. Most of the time I just talk about my studies or some fun games I've played.

When I migrated here in the US, I felt like different for being an anime otaku and video gamer. It's hard to make friends with my same hobby. They see me as anti-social and nerd when I am not. It is really different here being an otaku unlike where I came from I still look cool or normal even if I have this passion. But still hoping to find friends. XD

I have one person I can talk with, but he lives really far away, so I can't consider him to be in "real life", I guess.
My other friends will let me talk about it if it's on my mind, but they really don't listen, lawl.

I have about 6 friends.I don't give them my opinion on the things I don't like(that they do). But they are pretty open towards anime conversation. Even the ones that don't watch/read much.

One person and it's my partner. My social circle is non existant where I live as I moved away from my home area and I don't know anyone but my work colleagues. None of them like anime or manga, one colleague in particular we can chat about guys and movies etc. which is nice but anime/ manga wise no one at work.

Could be worse

I was wondering, do many of you guys have friends who you can talk to about anime actively in real life? Also, to those who have gone to college, is there a larger variety of people than in, say high school?
Thanks for any responses in advance!

I don't have any friends who understand it. To be honest, there isn't really anyone I know who I consider an actual "friend" since the majority of my "acquaintances" pretty much want nothing to do with me outside of school <<< because I tried to be friends with everyone and they all dislike each other, so they dislike me by association. Either way, everyone I know is pretty hard on anime. Since I'm not really friends with anyone, I don't really bother talking about anime/manga in school, so I tend to overhear a lot of conversations really hating on it. Some of them are just downright bigoted and ignorant about it, too. That's high school for ya.

Anyway, I'll be going to college this fall, so I'll find an answer to your second question and let you know on that.

I have two cousins I always rant to when I want and discuss manga and anime with even tho they haven't watched the manga/anime, they were the ones who got me into anime in the first place xD
And I also have two friends whom I met last year and they also watch anime and read manga so when, for example a new chapter of One Piece is out we sit next to each other in class and discuss it ;D

I have friends who read manga and watch anime, and I have friends who don't. Back in high school I know only a few who were into anime. But when I entered college I have met more people who are also interested in anime and manga.
