all I ask is that they do the series justice. I don't know how they plan on doing it, though. isn't it supposed to be a re-telling of the series? how do they plan to cram all that in a movie's time and not make it feel rushed?

According to Anime News Network, the movie "will have an original story set after the "true end" of the earlier story. He added that since it will not be a compilation of the television series, he could not recommend it to people unfamiliar with Steins;Gate."

Their is a (extremely ambiguous) trailer out for the movie, too. Look it up on Youtube.

Somehow that trailer made me cry (I dont know how it happened)

Your reaction could be foreshadowing something in the movie itself.

Kinda scary when I think about it. That, or I'm just thinking too hard.

To be honest, I'm not that excited for the film. The series was good with several standout character, but it has zero re-watch value for me.

Loved the series! It is my favorite anime series ever, but I'm more excited for the Persona 3 movie to be honest. The movie will probably be good and I'm happy to have more S;G content, but the movie could never be as good as the series.

Steins still hasn't been released in the UK, I watched the first episode and it seems pretty dull tbh, I think the silly pseudoscience might annoy me too

I'm pretty excited for the movie.

By "true end" do they mean it takes place after episode 24 that was aired here on Crunchyroll or after the ova? Does anyone know?

Doubt it for CR and it comes on the Net, expect subs to be very late, possibly end of the year or lucky, by November from what I'm guessing after it debuts in theaters.

Well, I think the movie will be set after the OVA. I consider the OVA to be part of the "true end" because it practically picks up where the anime left off.

I recently replied to a similar comment on the Steins;Gate Wiki. Was that you?

Thanks, rsaj, for your answer. I think you are probably right. I thought that the ova was canon, too. However, if they say "after the true end" without specifying which end, then it could mean that the movie and ova are alternate endings. Especially, because the original announcement and teaser was released right after episode 24 was aired. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-09-13/steins-gate-gets-film-green-lit
Still, since the movie is supposed to take place a whole year after reaching the Steins Gate Line and the ova took place shortly after reaching it, I think you are right that the movie continues the story after the ova. At least, I hope so. ^_^

And, yes, that was indeed me over at the Steins;Gate Wiki. Thanks for your reply there as well.

Edit: Ah, I just realized something. Steins;Gate was originally a visual novel, right? So if it's like what they showed about those types of games in the World God Only Knows anime then there are probably multiple routes in the Steins;Gate visual novel. "True end" could refer to the ending after the main route pursuing Makise Kurisu, right? I guess, we'll just have to wait til the movie comes out to know for sure whether the ova is canon or not.

i just hope Mayuri plays an important role. i loved her in the series, but i was disappointed when Okabe said to Kurisu that she was the most precious person to him. it made me feel like he liked Kurisu more than Mayuri (even though that's probably not the case). but if you think about it, Okabe would probably do anything to keep Mayuri safe. i guess, although he is in love with Kurisu, he loves Mayuri in more of a sisterly way rather than the romantic way
