It's especially ironic that alot of the complaints about us women regard how self-conscious and overly-critical men apparently tend to believe us to be. As for the ladies who's behavior actually fits the overwhelming stereotype of women, perhaps they wouldn't act that way if "you men" wouldn't be so judgmental. The nasty comments about us females accurately portray how vicious men can be.

Why do you have to be an asshole?

Women generalize men too based on their experiences. Every body generalizes everything. Only idiots think that every single person of w/e it is they're generalizing adheres to the status quo.

That's just the way it is.

End of thread.

So then, as you asked, "Why do MEN generalize women so much?". It's so simple. The men in your life aren't healthy enough to see you for who you are: a unique individual with your own set of characteristics and baggage; fearfully and wonderfully made. They generalize because of their own shortcomings. There's something wrong with them and so they blame their lack of understanding and character on you. Both men and women really screw this one up. The joking about somebody just because they have indoor or outdoor plumbing is just wrong. Some like to joke about men (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0aG3rbzr_qw/TG6i0zF_-7I/AAAAAAAADbg/GQbynE0DIxE/s1600/Joke-for-men.gif). Some like to joke about women (http://www.jokeoverflow.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/woman-drivers-500x384.jpg). All of that disgusts me.

It's an endless cycle of people doing what they were pre-programmed to do until somebody changes their own beliefs. People must make generalizations about other people in order to cover for their own problems. It's kinda like an iceburg: this issue of one group generalizing another isn't the real issue. It's just what's on the surface. There's so much more deep down in every person.

This part is advice. If you don't want advice from me, please pass this over.

Generalizing is always done for the same reason:
Keep the masses from thinking themselfs by providing simple, easy to understand or convenient explainations for things that seem to be beyond comprehensibility of the horizon of the human apprehension.

This explaination needs to be generalized very urgently

This thread is hypocritical to the point of hilarity.

When did I walk into Tumblr?

I am not uninformed of reality, and I'm most certainly not delusional. As I've said or implied several times to other people who've made comments, I'm trying to even things out a bit by having made a thread about men. If you don't like it, you yourself can easily "pick better company."

No, you weren't being an asshole. If anything, you falsely assumed that I don't handle reality well.
I'm employing "Tit for Tat." The threads that I mentioned in the description were about women and featured alot of negative stereotypes, so I merely evened the score.

"Hypocritical?" Maybe, though the point that I'm trying to make isn't about bashing stereotypes and generalizations. This is an example of "Tit for Tat."

I agree with this. Also I gotta admit, even I don't have the best track record with women (actually I got lost).

Nice. A topic about generalizing men as people who generalize women. Be careful or we might be sucked into an infinite loop.

We need to break this generalizing down into subgroups. We should generalize white men and white women differently than we generalize black men and black women, then we can break those groups down into poor white men, poor white women and so on. If we generalize enough we should eventually reach some weird situation where we've made enough specific generalizations that everyone is seen as an individual.

I also agree with breaking down into subgroups. However I would much rather remove generalization all together. We just have to switch our mindset about generalization and begin to realize that generalizing people limits our understanding of others.

I can't wait for the sequel to this thread -- Why do women generalize men that generalize women?
