I probably generalise men more than women, probably because I'm a man myself so I see more male behaviour and also how they act when no women are present. I never just assume that people fit into genralisations though.

This is good learning material for when I make more threads in the future, so your response is extremely useful. So far, I'm learning to make my reasons more clear in the description.

Women will always be judged by our looks and men will always be judged by their accomplishments and that will never change.

Just gonna throw it out there that men get generalized just as much as women do.
"Chauvinistic pigs" or "sick perverts" ring a bell?
Men go through just as much as women do.
Feminists/Feminazis constantly rant about equality for women.
Well we can start by not limiting things to one gender in the wrong.

I'm glad you see it that way. To answer your forum question, it goes both ways. People are judgemental and will judge anything or anyone.
Cheers.

I am typically very critical/judgmental of attractive women around my age who haven't accomplished anything in life... A lot of my female friends are career college students with minimum wage jobs and it makes me just shake my head.

I guess a simple answer to that question would be the whole concept of the sexes not fully understanding each other.

guys generalize because we don't understand girls. If you asked girls the same thing they would generalize themselves too just in a more biased way. I like to think I do understand girls but as soon as I think that they go and completely negate my understanding. We do it for the same reason we stereotype because their is more variation within a group than between groups. Anthropologists know this best but use groupings (ie. race) to make categorizing and understanding easier to compare.

Idk. Someone said on that previous forum that all people are different, think different, and are unique(something along the lines of that). Which I very much believe in.

I think of genders universally. Not to extent that I don't acknowledge a female for being a female( or vice-versa for male). But generally mentality-wise, I think everyone everyone is different. I wouldn't treat one any different than I treat the other. I am strictly polite to strangers or people I don't thoroughly know. Most likely-if you are not a friend.

You see, the reason why men generalize is quite simple.

We like to believe the world is full of reason and logic and that women's behavior can be explained using that as a foundation. However, what men fail to realize is that this is futile and can be summed up from one of the best movie quotes ever, "As Good As It Gets".

I have only read the title, but I think that kind of generalizes men...
