The doctor should flip a coin and the wife calls it in the air.

If she's right, she names; if wrong, he names.

It's a baby, not a dog. If the parents can't come to an agreement, then they have bigger problems than what to call their child.

Seriously though, if you encounter this problem you should run from your partner as fast as you can because s/he'll give you nothing but headaches for the next 18+ years. If you are the birth mother, then be sure to give your child your last name and not the last name of the other parent (if it's different from your own). Surprisingly, this can make a big difference in determining parental rights in some situations.

Anyways its a shame the kid themself couldnt come up with a name. So many people go through a long part of their life disliking their name.

People need to learn to love themselves.

Truer statement has never been said on the CR Forums.

It is both the husband and wife's child. Thus they should both have a hand in naming it.

That's deep. Very deep. You almost convinced me there.

But in my ancestral tradition, the child is named after an ancestor. Or we give them a name that we want them to become, or something out of experience concerning them. We also believe that a name determines the child's... sort of... destiny. Like their personality & attitudes. For example my african name means Child of the Rainstorm. I was named after my aunt who was born under a tent (meant for childbirth) in the forest during a heavy rainstorm. In our ancestral traditions we honored The Earth, so all aspects of nature have different meanings for us.

Indeed, but people learn that by age. Being a teenage is akward for a lot of people and they get unsure of themself. I used to dislike my name, but ive come to terms with it and its part of who i am.

Do you think that the wife or the husband should name the child they have? I think the wife should because she goes through the 9 months and then there's the excruciating pain of childbirth. I mean, it's not like the husband has no say, but I think the woman has especially earned it.
Please give an explanation for your opinion :)
Also, let's not to be sexist to each other please.

What about all the countless times over the years the guy has been hit in the go-nads? You know that there was a study done and getting hit in the nuts is about 1000x greater pain then childbirth.

Just saiyan.

Flip a coin to see who gets to give the baby it first name, the loser gets to come up with the middle name. Sounds fair right? That way they both get to name the baby.

So long as it's a respectable name... Try to remember a baby has come into the world. Don't make the name a big deal.
