Soo... I've always considered myself an Otaku... until I saw characters like Konata and Nyarko- and ever since I have given up all hope in reaching the status known as Otaku...

Are there any anime characters out there that you think are more Otaku than an Otaku? (you know, like Kirino Kousaka, or Haruka Nogizaka)
Who do you think is the Otaku-est?

I have to type Konata Izumi is by far the greatest otaku Queen ever!

And

Switch as the King of otaku-ism.

Keima Katsuragi (main character from The World God Only Knows) is a top-tier choice. It takes quite a while for this series to include character development and plot... it's an episodic comedy for a good number of volumes.

There's a lot of good examples in Comic Party, but I think that Taishi Kuhonbutsu is the best from the series. This series talks about manga creators and fan conventions all the time, though it's usually cute and worksafe, despite its origins.

Likewise, there's plenty of good examples in Doujin Work. I think the best one in the series is the girl named Tsuyuri. If you read the Doujin Work manga, you'll find filthy humor everywhere... and I'm not sure how much was retained in the anime spinoff.

The main character in Otaku no Video, whose name is Ken Kubo, goes from ordinary person to dedicated fan. I haven't seen this short series in a while, but it left a good impression on me.

You should it's one of the best slice of lifes i've seen in anime, and make sure you watch the dub, it's possibly Chris Pattons best performance, and Greg Aryes as Yamazaki is hilarious.

Well, the main character from "Otaku no Video" was such an otaku that he actually started up a manufacturing business in China for anime figures. I don't know if that would count, considering the whole point of the documentary/cartoon was to talk about the otaku lifestyle.

I agree 100%, that guy is freaking hilarious.
I especially love the bit where he takes Sato to visit the ''Holy Land'' and he buys the inflatable magical girl, it was just so funny.

Yeah that was a good episode, albeit one of the worst looking episodes. But I gotta say I love the "Begone dirty whores!" line.
