I find that the lower a JRPG is rated by the average western reviewer usually the better the game is.
Vice Versa the higher the JRPG is rated by an average western reviewer usually the worse the game is.

I also find that when a western reviewer rates a JRPG somewhere within the 6.5 to 7.5 range and states their are problems with the story that game is usually frickin' amazing with a frickin. amazing story.

eh I disagree a lot of critically acclaimed JRPGs are indeed among the best. Like any genre a lot of gems just tend to get misunderstood or overlooked.

The only game I can think of that was rated much lower in the west than in Japan was Final Fantasy XIII. People hated it in America, but they ate it up in Japan.

More accurately, people had a mixed reaction in America, for there were still people that gave ratings as high as many in Japan.
