The only series I'm really looking forward to is the new Rozen Maiden. If Crunchyroll or Hulu do not license it by Fourth of July, I'll find other ways.

I'm interested in Silver Spoon and Day Break Illusion, but I'll probably wait until a few episodes are out and see what the fans are saying before I decide if they are worth my time.

Daisuki is back after their maintenance. Their store is up (at least for preorder with the one item I clicked on). They also now list videos by series rather than just list all videos together.

They also have the first five episodes of Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari up now. I was (and still am) hoping they'd have Nekomonogatari Black to watch before the simulcast of "2nd Season". I was also interested if their Bakemonogatari would be any better than the 480p we get here, but it wasn't as far as I could tell with a quick glance (I'm not savvy enough to know how to check the actual resolution).

My test showed 1280x720 as the resolution for the stream of the first episode of Bakemonogatari.

I am curious if they are making the series available to countries other than the U.S. and Canada, as that would be another advantage over CR. As before the changes, they still don't seem to provide any information on what countries can view each video. I'm hopeful perhaps they will also have the non-broadcast episodes CR lacks, but I expect we will have to wait some time to see about that.

And at least one announcement tomorrow. If it isn't the Tarot Card show, then it will likely be Love Lab .

I suppose there is a remote chance it could be Tamayura ~More Aggressive~, with CR also hopefully picking up the first series as a catalog title.

Yeah, there is a slight chance of that too(and I would welcome that addition to the CR lineup).

Yeah its great 16 simulcast at least from CR this season and CR likes to wait a bit on unveiling ? boxes so wouldn't surprise me if some more pop up.

It makes me wonder what Funimation got... Hopefully Kadokawa didn't bundle up show for them...

Well, Daisuki now has the first 5 episodes of Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari up. Bakemonogatari seems to be just 480p like here on Crunchyroll. Nisemonogatari seems to be HD, can't tell if its 720p or 1080p as it is dynamic, sometimes it looks like SD or less, other times it looks good. Subs are hard, can't seem to turn them off, unlike Nisemonogatari on Crunchyroll. Will have to check some episodes of Nise against the BDs to see which version they have put up.

Will they actually get episodes 13-15 of Bakemonogatari? Will Neko go up July 4, the day they will be premiering it at a show in LA? Time will tell... can they do a simulcast? Saturday we'll know!

I am expecting the final tally to be around 25, which would be a healthy chunk of the number of series we have starting in July.

There are at least 3 we can expect them to get simply due to being sequels of series Funimation has simulcast before. In fact, there are 4, but given that Kingdom 2 premiered almost a month ago, I am beginning to think Funimation may have passed on it.

Interesting... perhaps I didn't give it enough time. I have both on Bluray so I won't be watching them there but in the time I spent watching it never got better than what looked like 480p while Nisemonogatari did eventually get better after initially looking HORRIBLE. I am still scared of what will happen on Saturday when a worldwide simulcast is attempted. I just hope we don't see a 404 or 500 error...

I don't know how they handle their encoding, and whether that is in house or contracted out (as apparently NicoNico.com did) or done by each studio. We could be seeing an upscale from a 480p master, or a softening filter applied so that a lower bitrate is workable (which effectively eliminates the reason for higher resolution, except for anyone that has a computer with a GPU and driver so old it does a bad job of upscaling).

As for the simulcast, at least that isn't something I will have to worry about. I've gotten in the habit of letting the episodes pile up and not starting to watch until near the end of the season or after, which means I avoid the rush.

There is one thing that Daisuki has in common with NicoNico.com and Anime on Demand; no forum for users to provide feedback in (although I suppose AoD has their Facebook page and Twitter account). At least with NicoNico.com, people could vent about stream problems in the hopes someone at the company would see it. I suppose with Daisuki, all one could do is fire off a Twitter @ message.

Speaking of forums, are my eyes deceiving me, or has Funimation done away with their forum? I went over there to check if there was any chatter on Kingdom 2, and there no longer appears to be a link to it on their pages, even under "Community", and the link (which still comes up in a Google search for "Funimation forum") gives a 404 error.

Monogatari second season and Nekomonogatari (black) will be streamed to United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, and Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari should be available in United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and South Africa. (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-06-21/daisuki-to-stream-mongatari-series-2nd-season-anime) So wider than just north america, but generally speaking, Daisuki is still a dud for those of us outside the english-speaking world. I migth have been naive to expect more from them, but I have a hard time understanding why there are so many region restrictions when the japanese rightsholders should logically be able to stream to all territories they haven't sold off the rights to.

On that note, after the update, the 'series' page now only shows the the shows available in my region (just like Crunchy), though the front page is as unhelpful as always.

Daisuki's streams for Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari are not available for Australia atm. They have added a region notice page now though:

Region Error

The selected video from DAISUKI cannot be watched in your country.

You mean speaking of 404 errors, LOL. Must be part of their site revamp!!! Well, Funimation's forums were just full of complaints so one way to solve the complaints is to remove the complaints department LOL
