Even before the fact both shows had not been licensed for home video was brought to my attention, I was having doubts about Funimation getting the next Milky Holmes. Apparently the show didn't do very well for CR. That no doubt resulted in them putting in a low MG bid for the next series, which is why NicoNico.com was able to grab it. As NicoNico.com was more in "get what we can" mode like CR, rather than their Funico partner Funimation's more "pick and choose" method, Funimation ended up with a title they probably would not have picked on their own.

That said, I would be very surprised if CR got it even if Funimation passes on it, since due to the popularity of the series in Japan, there is a good chance the publisher is still asking too high a minimum guarantee for how it would likely perform.

I think you'll find that the reason Niconico had Milky Holmes 2 was because dwango (the owner of the site) was involved in the production of the series. The same goes for Symphogear, Blood-C and Utapri. Dwango may or may not have been the company handling the distribution but they would of definitely had a say in the matter.

I had predicted CR would end up with about 25 new simulcasts, and if you subtract the J-drama, that is exactly the number of boxes we are currently left with. To be honest, I wouldn't mind at all if CR shot past that number, but I don't see much more they will likely get.

I'm not so sure about that. Gatchaman Crowds is very likely with Sentai/NTV, Kimi no Iru Machi is likely with Gonzo, while Love Lab is also still a real possibility (remember that the last few direct Aniplex titles started a week or 2 late).

Gatchaman Crowds and Kimi no Iru Machi were in the "not much left" category I was thinking of. Even with both, that would give CR 26 new simulcasts, which while over 25 would still fit my "about 25" prediction.

I'm guessing Watamote is licensed by Sentai... Dang... No fancy release in North America... NIS, it would be a great collection to your anime collection...

There are 3 series I currently have in mind that would fit the "Wow, I didn't think they would get that":
3. A midseason pickup of Yamato 2199

I added the mid-season pickup of Yamato because Little Busters showed us it is possible, and I would be very surprised if it happened, but also very happy.

I'd freak out.. I soooooooo want to see this on CR subbed..

I just realized there is a third possibility, although it seems to be a fading one: Rou Kyuu Bu! SS

The problem there is that Sentai was asked to sell back the home video rights for the first series, so they may have little interest in acquiring the second one as what would likely be a streaming only title. I also have my doubts whether CR could obtain it on their own. I also have to wonder how much interest there is in the series, since it premiered 2 days ago, and I don't recall seeing any chatter about it.

It's always possible that NIS America got Watamote, they did get Brave10 a Media Factory series after all(Watamote's publisher here is Media Factory).

@ TheAncientOne and others, I'd say Kaiji would likely be the biggest surprise of the summer. There is still chance of a late simulcast of Tamayura or Ro-Kyu-Bu. There is also a chance that Funimation will get Kimi no Iru Machi since that is a Gonzo show(I think Leviathan was under Gonzo not TV Tokyo) and Kimi no Iru Machi was created by the mangaka that did Suzuka(which Funimation did license). I wonder if Funi will announce High School DxD New and any other simulcasts at their panel today.

The only reason I didn't count it is due to it being a catalog title instead of a simulcast. It certainly does fit the surprise aspect, however.

In other news, I see CR has completely updating the lineup page, and launched a Site News topic for the 7 titles announced yesterday. If I recall correctly, one of those was missing the simulcast premiere info in the news article, but it appears all 7 have that information in the Site News message.

by the way, if anybody could find out Blood Lad's simulcast time I'd be thankful(saying Sunday afternoon EDT is not very specific).

It would be interesting to see when Funimation feels like putting up Brothers Conflict or Dangaronpa(also when they feel like making other simulcast announcements).

Since it's Kadokawa I suspect that it is 1.5 hours after the start of the Japanese broadcast like Prisma Illya. That would make it 10am PDT / 1pm EDT (correct me if I'm wrong about the timezone differences since I'm just editing the times that CR/ANN list for Prisma Illya).

That is assuming Viz posts the episodes on time.

Just 2 more series and CR will basically have my entire Summer watchlist: Blood Lad and Danganronpa. Either way CR got almost everything this season, even though I think this season is lacking at least compared to the last few seasons. Not CR fault in anyway since they got the good stuff this season.

They would need miracle sharing like Attack on Titan for this to occur as Viz got Blood Lad and Funimation got Danganronpa.

So far I am _only_ watching 20 simulcasts this season including 4 carry-overs from last season. There are still a few more that need to start but this will make it a light season for me, usually I am watching 30 to start with and I drop 10 settling on 20. If I drop any at this point I will be watching the fewest I have watched in a long time!

I wonder if the 1st episode Sunday without God simulcast is going to be delayed. There is still no placeholder or countdown despite it is supposed to be simulcasted in about 2 hours and 40 minutes from now.

Completely forgot that Sunday Without God is supposed to be out today. I hope a delay isn't the case then.

I think the Crunchyroll staff partied too hard at AX LOL Stuff is coming out very close to release time, like half an hour away. Worry not... yet...
