We had a string of one J-drama a season, then one season when it didn't arrive. It was always an open question whether the J-drama initiative had fallen apart, or it was just a contract hitch for that one show.

Looks like it was just a contract hitch. And the region distribution includes the seven "English Language Countries", Latin America, Scandinavia and the Netherlands, which if I recall is better than they've ever done with a J-drama.

The big earners are the most likely to be picked up by a home video distributor, which means they are more often streaming sublicenses, with Crunchyroll having the best success from Aniplex of America, NIS America, and, primarily, Sentai. And a lot of sublicenses end up being announced after most of the direct streaming licenses have been announced.

So once Sentai gets into their announcements, expect to see Crunchyroll's announcements from the season's expected big earners to start to build up a head of steam. Though with Sentai, its been common for The Anime Network to pick two or three as exclusives and for Crunchyroll to get the rest, so there's always a bit of suspense until TAN announces their streaming exclusives for the season.

Oreimo 2 will be in the Top 3 in sales for the Spring 2013 season if not number 1. IIRC, the first season sold more than 20k in Japan and I see no reason why the 2nd season can't do 20k especially since the most popular character of the series, Kuroneko gets a lot more plot-involvement this season.

Jury's still out on if Galgantia will be another hit for the Urobutcher or another disappointment(Psycho Pass did just OK in Japan)

Oreimo will do very well. Crunchyroll hasn't got right to Galgantia though.

Yeah, I know that we don't know yet who will be simulcasting Galgantia. We'll probably find out by next week who has gotten that.

Uta no Prince has Miyuki Sawashiro as the heroine...will watch

This!!! One of my favorite seiyuu!

I watched the first episode. The opening sequence makes me realize perhaps what girls feel when they watch the opening of LoveLive! or AKB0048... the guys with their moves was a bit odd for a guy to watch but after that it was actually quite watchable. Good visuals, the music isn't bad, nice voice work. Wasn't expecting to watch this one but never say never! I may skip the OP going forward however LOL

Urg... All these shows look like pandering shows and personally I can't get into mecha anime unless it has some crazy story or some serious psychological/philisophical/serious romance aspects like Eva or Rah Xephon . Though I guess I shouldn't expect another 1-3 years before another god tier anime like shin sekai yori, SAO, or little busters. I was kinda surprised 2 of those came along at the same season, might have to double the waiting time.

Hopefully there is atleast a gem in the rough out of everything CR ends up picking up this time like Kotoura-san was. I'll end up giving everything a shot atleast except shows they pick up that don't include the prequel or first season. Kinda amusing at all the harem animes that CR has been aquiring (alot of reverse harems too).

So far, kinda let down... see what else they get.

Do you keep apprised of what shows are coming up for each season (which isn't difficult), or do you like to stay in the dark until the last moment?
