Excellent points. Thanks for posting the older translations. I'll have to look those up. I like seeing the evolution of a work through the ages to see how the translation was changed.

If your talking about why does hell have to be so bad. Then I think you might be misunderstanding their idea of hell, they don't determine what hell is, it's determined by their scriptures. So it can't be changed because all religions believe what their version of hell is, is what it will always be.
My version says hell got the greatest bbq. And according to myth, all the apples belong to God.

You'd think the people in heaven would have the greatest bbq, since they can just hold out a stick of meat over the flames from hell. I wonder what ribs smoked with the smoke of eternally burning souls tastes like.

For most Christians, its a choice, really. God wants you to go to heaven. So its up to you whether you go there or not. Of course, there are the cases of people who never have heard of the Bible, which makes the jobs of missionaries a lot more important. What happens to them after they die? No clue. Do they deserve to burn forever because they never had a chance to learn? Nope.

I originally wanted to alay lordseth's fears on the matter of HELL, by using Bible Scripture as to the fallacy of the traditional belief in Hell or Hellfire, And did so, If you would like, please go to my first posting and see it for yourself, Yes I do use the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, Kaliban is of the opinion that the NW Translation is based on earlier version of the same translation, I disagree, but I'm no Bible scholar, (And neither were the Apostles and older men of the first century Christian Congregation) But I do have additional info I wish to add, Then I'll drop it, because this thread was supposed to be about HELL, I personally, through my study of the scriptures, I don't fear it, since the original words " She'ol, Haides, (Haydes) means the grave, the contition of the dead, Hell, or Ge'henna is the symbol of everlasting destruction, as in the KJB in Revelation.20:14: " And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire, This means the second death. " so How can Hell be cast into itsself?
