I agree, that scene was brilliant! I like were this is going so far (I haven't read the manga, so I have no idea what's going to happen).

Yeah, I still can't believe that happened. I was almost expecting someone (like Nanako) to walk into the library and catch them for sure!

In any case, Takao needs to build some muscle or something because what took place in the library shouldn't even have happened.

Nakamurasan, in the library, with a gym uniform, in the weirdest scene I think you will ever see, bar none...

Wondering where that smell came from... the gutter is not where my head is at right now... OK, OK, I'll try to keep it PG-13... floral scented hand cream, floral scented hand cream, floral scented hand cream....

Indeed, usually when you watch anime you can think, ah well, at least it's just some voice actors screaming and moaning into microphones and laughing about it later, it's not like anyone is actually
right???

Yeah, he's the interesting character here. Most of us would have pushed Nakamura into the river by now, assuming we were sad enough to even let it get this far. But the fact that he allows himself to keep getting in deeper with her is the really interesting development.

I appreciate the creative risk behind the animation style, but I have to wonder if it's not an obstacle to character development in some ways. The lack of detail in the animation makes the characters come off as incredibly remote/detached, esp. Kasuga and Nakamura. Can anyone with knowledge of the source material tell me if this is intentional or not? All misgivings aside, I am intrigued enough to explore the series further and see how far into the dark recesses of the human mind this show is willing to travel.

The mangaka for Flowers of Evil knows of and approves of the rotoscoping style of the anime even though the Aku no Hana manga doesn't actually look like that since it is not rotoscoped. That said, interestingly the mangka is friends with the mangaka for Attack on Titan and drew the end card for Attack on Titan episode 1 so it isn't like the artwork couldn't have been nice for Aku no Hana anime! What could have been...

And the cover from volume 1, it's in wikipedia so does that make it OK? Copy so I don't hotlink, link below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Aku_no_hana_volume_1_cover.jpg

Instead we got...

Three episodes in and I think I am used to it. Still not sure about the pacing, etc.
