Speaking of moe, I want to see how far Nakamura makes it in the next Saimoe contest!

not really far... I'm a going to cover that in a thread and I pray (unlimited blade works) that she will not even be considered in group stages.

Just finished the last translated chapter of the manga, and it gets really effed up, but its still pretty awesome. Im curious to see how they end the anime, since currently there are 45 chapters.

How many chapters has the anime covered so far?

For some odd reason, it has low ratings. I've never looked at the manga but I tried an episode and was hooked instantly by the eeriness of it. I don't know why people can hate this other than that the story is a bit slow.

It's a refreshing change from the usual easy-watch animes, though. I like the animation style and I love creepy things. The ending music is SPOT ON PERFECT.

Weird thing was....I already own Flowers of Evil (the book). I bought it since it was written by one of Poe's most prominent translators and I'm a Poe fan. It's a very dense collection of poetry, very difficult for people who don't normally read poems.

HOWEVER, Nakamura's curiosity I think is taking it too far. It would be nice to see whether Nakamura's parents had bad relations, or find out if she was abused, to see what made her this way. But regardless, it's like Nakamura is curious about sex and love, but just doesn't want to personally involve herself in that stuff. Maybe she is afraid, which leads her to become a sort of voyeur or observer. With Kasuga, he's also an adolescent trying to come to terms with his emotions. Sure he talks about platonic love, but Nakamura raises a good point, is this how he really feels?

I found myself wondering how on earth Nakamura has ended up this way too. Kasuga's personality is just so strange, and I wonder how much of it comes down to cultural differences: I mean he really needs to man up! How many times has Nakamura knocked him down now? I find it astonishing that he still hasn't reacted to that, but perhaps there's just so much cultural conditioning to not be aggressive (especially to a girl), that it isn't possible. On the other hand, I think in real life people are pretty wimpy when faced with an overwhelmingly powerful personality, and tend to just go with the herd/flow; so it's not surprising that he can't compete with the strength of Nakamura's will.

Found the manga and read it up to episode 45. I won't spoil it for anyone. It was such an interesting read I just couldn't stop and marathoned it most of the way thru the first night. This story could even end where it is now at the end of episode 45 but there is another episode forthcoming eventually so I'm assuming there's more to this story. I'm curious how faithful the remainder of this anime will conform to the intent of the manga.

Episode 7

Oh my GOD, that was incredible.
The closing scenes were the best part of the whole show so far, damn.

Also, new OP, this time from Saeki's P.O.V as expected.

But, that scene, oh man, so good.

Personally at first I did not think that this anime was going to be in the least bit entertaining at all. I was way too caught up with how i didn't like the art style that they use. But every week I kept watching out of curiosity and now i'm hooked, I love the story and all of the characters so much and can't wait to see where this ends up.

And does anyone else oddly really like the ending song even though it's totally creepy?

It's a monthly release, so you may have to wait awhile for the next chapter.

As breathtakingly beautiful as it was chilling. Baudelaire would be proud, Kasuga.

Episode 7 ending minutes: I found it to be the most exhilarating feeling I, personally, have ever experienced watching an anime show. Looking at it in the context of 2 ids (Psych 101 speak id, ego, superego) free from their shackles of fear, conformity, gender defined role assignments, peer responsibility, societal expectations et al it became an exciting, rollicking ride on a roller coaster run amok. What a rush! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm also enamored with the animation fixation on the lips and other facial expressions of the ladies when they speak or get ready to. I wish there was more Roto-Scope application in anime. It really defines other sensory observations about each individual when they are viewed full frame.

Best anime this Season imho.
