Episode 2 was great
Nakamura doesn't look so ugly anymore

The ending is a great cliffhanger, the plot has really picked up!

I haven't read the anime and the first episode was absolutely chilling IMO. Although I love a lot of the 'fluff' shows, my first encounters with anime were all really serious and boundary-pushing, so there's still a large part of me that expects anime to do just that: push me out of my comfort zone, and Aku no Hana had me in goose pimples. I thought the artwork really worked for the show, although I can't say I liked it I was totally hooked wondering where it was all going. That the makers were aiming for a distinct feel of highschool reality is clear: many of us experienced school like this, rather than the great dramatic scenes in many other highschool animes.

The cuts to the flower and how it bloomed at the end were so clever and the ED and transition into it I found genuinely gut-twisting. As soon as I finished the anime I was looking up Baudelaire to see what on earth the meaning of it all could be...all incredibly gripping, but it's obvious, even without reading the spoilers, that this is going to turn seriously dark, and I'm wondering if I'm going to wimp out.

And then, the ED song happened and that creep me out.

I'm not good in horror cuz I'm a scaredy cat.

So now, I'm not sure if I should watch it or not.

I mean, the art is kinda nice because it's realistic. And even though the pacing is slow, I do like it because it's hideously real and for some reason, I appreciate that right now.

It's not a horror. It's a psychological/drama/romance shounen type.

Seemed like a strange 1st ep overall. And while I'm not use to this kind of art style, it doesn't really bother me that much; though I do find it a bit comical how some of the characters don't have noses, or eyes, or mouths when they are seen from a distance.

I am glad that the 1st ep ended in an eerie and hair-raising way though, since it makes me want to watch the next ep now which is always a good thing!

Just seen episode 1, it was quite weird in my opinion, i don't really know what to make of it at the moment because not a lot really happened in episode 1, looking forward to episode 2 though coz i think the story will kick off properly in this week's episode

I really liked episode 2 as well, I haven't read the manga so this is a first impression entirely for me too. I personally think that it's better that they stuck with what they thought would be best for the eerie feeling of the manga and made it rotoscoped (it indeed qualifies to the uncanny valley scale haha) rather than making it a "regular" anime. The slow pacing and use of the music somehow really gets to you and makes you feel very uneasy, which I think is brilliantly executed and shows that they really know what they are doing. And oh lord, that ending song. The level of creepiness is just unreal. Somehow reminds of the boy in Suicide Club (or Suicide Circle, whichever you prefer). I also love how Nakamura seems deeply disturbed and mundane, when the bad hasn't even started yet.

Will definitely continue to follow this!

After watching the second episode I understand why they went with rotoscoping. It's not something you can sit and be comfortable with. It's intentionally unverving in the way that it's animated. I think a lot of the emotions that the character displays would have come off as comical with normal animation types as well. For example, when he freaks out and runs away from the bike. In other anime series that's normally the type of situation that is played off for comedic effect, and If they were to do the same for this show it would be a betrayal of the source material(from what i hear!).

I think I'm hooked.

Good grief, that ED theme was creepy.
