It's worked for DBZ for how many years now? At least Samurai Brides didnt spend 12 episodes building up the fight only to end the show with the main characters getting their asses kicked. lol

Not sure where it sits for me. probably give it another episode or two. I dislike the 'Ruroni Kenshin' model of coming with a new enemy even more super than the last who requires the hero train even harder and unleash more secret techniques. It just... seems like lazy writing.

that's just a shonen staple... but yes, it is VERY lazy writing.

Another reason I don't watch DBZ I guess.

Most amusing version of it to me was airmaster where the protagonist would go through the entire cycle while reeling from what was NOT QUITE a knock out blow by her current opponent. Airmaster would always get these epiphanies while her brain was bouncing off the walls of her skull and come back even tougher.

I just marathoned Samurai Girls so I could start Samurai Bride prepared. I loved the art style and the ink blot method of censorsing. Certainly among the very best harem ecchi I've seen, and while the story was a bit wearisome and seemed to drag (until the very end) when watched all in one day, I expect it would have held up much better if I'd watched just a few at a time or an episode a week.

So, Samurai Bride. Same basic art style, but it seems a bit cleaner and less smudgy, which I don't like quite so much (or maybe I'm imagining it, or maybe it's just a difference in quality between old series on Hulu and new series on CR (both watched via Roku)).

Started off with a much lighter, sillier tone, and I didn't particularly like that. But we'll see.

While I was dissapointed with the first episode, the second episode has convinced me to keep at the series for a bit longer. I actually laughed during it!

Episode 2 was hilarious! Oh man, it does make me wonder though if the discs will not have the censorship or if the ink and flowers are just part of the show.

Im getting a kick out of this series so far. I'll keep watching. I detect a lot of ensueing hilarity.

Not quite sure if episode 2 moved this closer to "keep watching" or "drop it."

In general I seem to be warming up to the kind of hilarity that I used to like not at all. Even so, I'm not sure it's working for me here.

Cute companion animals are something I'm definitely not warming up to. Even if (especially if?)

I need an "ambivalent" emoticon.

The disks won't have censorship... I understand the uncensored versions are out there in the wild somewhere.

Someone must be ripping from the premium pay channel AT-X which shows uncensored as AT-X is showing it:

The last time I broke my no fansubs rule it was for So I Can't Play H/Dakara Boku Wa, H Ga Dekinai because the censorship was so horrible, light beams covering half the screen. At least Samurai Bride has fun censorship. Still almost makes me want to look for fansubs or raws but... not that badly.

And it did. I enjoyed it more than the prior episodes, but I'm still not having as much fun as I did with Samurai Girls. What are folks who are liking it, liking the most about it? How do you think it compares with Samurai Girls? I feel like it's really flailing around and failing in the area of plot execution. Plot is, of course, absolutely not what this show is about, but that's why the messy flailing feeling is so annoying to me--it makes that part that much more obvious and distracting from the ecchi that is the show, instead of providing a clean, simple scaffold for it. Maybe now that the whole "Samurai Bride" premise has been stated outright, things will tighten up. It's just been pretty painful getting to that point.
