I loved this show. It would be great if we get a second season, but it would probably be quite a while before we could.

I think honestly this anime's main insufferable quality is that it doesn't go anywhere beyond Hikki quotes.

Hikki hasn't really changed at all or grown as a character, you can argue that he has but even if so it's not by what 13 episodes should deliver. You could also argue that he doesn't need to change as well...but all in all I think this anime simply is binded by lack of progression. To anywhere. That goes for all of the characters. During the middle of the anime it started feeling like nothing was ever happening. Nothing ever really did happen.

It really started to get interesting once we saw the connection between him, Yukinoshita, and Yui. Having their pasts intertwined in an indirect way was really neat but they didn't do anything with it. In fact it just tapered off. As soon as the festival arc begin, it just dissolved in to the mist. Top it off with another festival set as the finale, that was less interesting than the previous one, and I don't know...sort of leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Show needed to go more places quicker, and needed a better ending spot.

That's really my only disappointment with the show, though. Hikki was great to listen to, the characters were unique and interesting (even the side characters like Hayato, despite the typical perfecto persona that he's meant to represent). So I don't regret watching but I don't think it would be inaccurate to say that most people are probably left feeling a bit un-satisfied.

Just curious, do you still have the link for the sales?

Best disc sales site, direct link to the spring 2013 sales up to now for volume 1:
http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showpost.php?p=2010486&postcount=37

And light novel sales, MAL puts them up weekly along with the manga sales:
http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=614639

The original source for these is actually Oricon so you can check it yourself if you can read Japanese but they cover everything so you have to know how to find the right category:

Amazing. For the crap Date a Live got from a lot of folks (I liked the show) it's higher than SNAFU. Never would have imagined that.

I guess its because it started off slow. I remember Date A Live was only show from this season that I didn't like initially, stuck with it, and really started to like it as time went on. But being above SNAFU is surprising.

Note that Date a Live was also double the price of SNAFU for volume one since SNAFU disc 1 just has 1 episode on it. So Date A Live made a lot more money this week, more than double. Volume 2 should be more even ground though SNAFU disc 2 has an event ticket which tends to boost sales.

Im guessing ( read somewhere) that the manga isnt that far ahead of the first season, maby there will be more romance in the second one. I hope so i liked the first season alot.

Well for the people who want a second season well you have two issues.
1.) The anime pretty much took all of what was written in the Light Novels so not much from the light novel to animate.
2.) It was animated by Brains Space. They rarely do sequels.

While there is a manga adaptation too, the main source material is novels. Episode 12 went up to the end of volume 6. Volumes 6.25 (bonus came with volume 1 disc), (6.5 next week as bonus in volume 3 disc), 7 and 7.5 are out but considering that they did about 2 episodes / novel for season 1 we will have a long wait for season 2 with only one novel plus the .25/.5 side story volumes.

That said, maybe Wataru Watari can just write the screenplays directly? He wrote episodes 13 and the OVA himself so you never know, perhaps he could just write a season of anime in his spare time... I hear he isn't even a full time writer (which is the norm in Japan). Maybe he can just quit his other job though he is quite young and this is his first hit series.

Brains Base is just the animation studio. They just animate what they're paid to animate. Common misconception. TBS made the show and they make sequels... so there is hope. But you're right about there not being much material unless Wataru just wants to write 13 more episodes himself without bothering to write novels for them.

i figured it would take a while for another one. I didnt know he only did that little after the anime. I guess its a wait from here though!

Another series ( going off topic sorry) that i wish they make a season to for, and im going to get flamed for it is Toradora!, i really want to see what happens with ryuji and taiga. (back on topic) but yea ill wait patiently i guess!

What you pointed out about Brains Base is my biggest concern...
