Anyone else like OAVs? I recently saw Kite and Kite Liberator, and I thought they were awesome. I also really enjoyed Darker than Black: Gaiden, and if you are looking for something that is hilariously bad, M.D. Geist is a good choice. Crying Freeman is also pretty good, although it is really old.

M.D. Geist used to be required viewing for anime fans. (It was also the company "spokesmecha" for U.S. Manga Corps before it went under.) Not a lot of plot, and a whole lot of violence, but, if you want a perfect distillation of what '80s anime was (especially in terms of production values), definitely give it a watch.

Rurouni Kenshin Trust and Betrayal is considered amongst the best OVA ever made.
Some great stand alone OVAs are Pale Cocoon, Voices of a Distant Star and Mizu no Kotoba, all of which are on Crunchyroll.
Oh also how could I forget FLCL?

I would say Legend of the Galactic Heroes, but it's hard to consider a series that's over a hundred episodes an OVA.

Pretty much agree with everyone else. I'm sure I'm forgetting quite a few, but the only other one that I can remember right now is Steins;Gate OVA (Episode 25).
