It does feel very different. I had to read the novels to see if its how it went there and thankfully it was so i learned not to be so annoyed with it being different and just ended ip enjoying it a lot more knowing that its how it should go and what not.

Really beginning to wonder where this show is going. But frankly, every episode makes me dislike Kirino more and more. They waited way way too long to give her any positives, and her personality is miserable and emotionally manipulative. You have to counter balance this level of malice if you want a likable character >.>

Feel bad for Childhood Friend(tm) though. She's be completely tossed out of the show this season.

Childhood friend is shit. Her presence is detrimental to the development of the show. In addition, I don't know why anyone would feel bad for her, you claim to dislike emotionally manipulative characters -- are you familiar with the source material? Manami is an unlikeable manipulative autist who sabotages Kyosuke's relationships LN's. This trait has been toned down, perhaps, in the anime, or it has yet to be broadcast. Either way, Manami a shit.

How would it be detrimental to the development of the show? By your indication, her character from the novels hasn't even been included in the show thus far. She was quite visible in season one, but has been dropped like a rock in season 2. That's simply bad writing. Its one thing to bring out whatever bad qualities she is suppose to have and have that resolved. Its another to just pretend she doesn't exist anymore except for a visual gag every now and then.

As someone already mentioned, the central premise to the show ( Little sister is an eroge fiend, bro has to cover for her ) has completely vanished in season two. Leaving us with just the character relationships. But the relationship between him and his sister is toxic. The relationships between the supporting cast are much more interesting than what is suppose to be the central relationship. The central relationship is also undermined by the specter of waiting to see whether or not the show will pull the "She's not really his sister" card.

I agree that Manami has been largely removed from the second season. Nevertheless, I would disagree that this is bad writing. I would contend that the removal of a superfluous meddlesome shit, consequently, improves the show.

The notion that "the relationship between him and his sister is toxic" is absurd. It can be seen by inspection that they are only growing closer to each other with each passing episode. I will concede that side character relationships are often more interesting, but they're side characters for a reason; they are their to forward character development (after all, OreImo has always had a character driven plot, as opposed to story driven plot).

Whether or not the author pulls a "lulz incest end o by the way they're not blood related" is yet to be determined. The final LN comes out a month. I hope we're all ready to get mad.

I can say, and I don't look forward to going home to rosey cheeks when I'm later proved wrong, given the direction OreImo is currently going incest end is most probable.

Its not absurd at all. Its textbook toxic: Insults, physical abuse, emotional manipulation, selfishness, dishonesty, fighting instead of communicating, drama, arrogance, the inability for her brother to do anything right in her eyes, everything being about her at all times. Its a toxic relationship checklist. The entire first season was him going to bat for her, while she treated him like shit emotionally and physically. Now in the second season, its spilling over and affecting their friends. That's a toxic relationship.

Now tt may be that in the novels, Kirino is presented as more likable, but in the anime all of her good qualities are things that happen off screen. We're told she's a great student, athlete, responsible person, etc. But never shown any of that. All we see is the abuse she piles on her brother. To be bluntly honest, Kirino's behaviour is a lock for bipolar disorder. Which would make for a very interesting plot point if that author had actually intended it. -.-

As for lawl incest, I hope not. There's no romantic chemistry there. He has much better romantic chemistry with the supporting cast.

Off topic but, I wish in romance/comedy animes in general, that there would be actual side character relationships, not just the main character gets to be all lovey dovey with anybody he wants, but I actually want to see male side character friends of the male protagonists get into a relationship as well. I generally like side characters better anyway.

Itazura Na Kiss comes to mind as one that did it successfully

I feel the same, even though I love Toradora... the story left the side characters in shambles... god that bugged me so much. I'm hoping Oreimo ends with a "happy" ending for everyone because the side characters really give the show life.

Minori, and Yūsaku really just got tossed aside in the show

Getting off of Toradora, I just wanted to share with you all the artwork for Volume 2 of the Blu-ray/DVD set if you haven't seen it yet :)
