Its not as if that sort of show/manga doesn't exist in Japan. Its just that he's trying to bring Koi Kaze to the audience of a publisher that normally does stuff like Strawberry Panic, Index and Shakugan no Shana. Not exactly the right label or audience for the sort of subject he was die hard about writing about.

Indeed it will be interesting to see if he switches to a new publisher like Overlap Bunko or something even more obscure of if he likes the sales he gets out of Dengeki Bunko.

Just trying to illustrate how the concept of truth is not universal. I see much more there than the moe-ification of brocon/siscon relationships.

What, exactly, else is there to see? Honestly though, I'm curious.

It works to a point as comedy right up until you realize he's serious about it, then its just uncomfortable and odd that he's really going that route in a show of this nature.

I'm sort of in the same boat. Everything was peachy when it was sort of a lightly hinted or joked about scenario, but it's like when they go there and then don't even follow through with it, it's sort of like...jarring. Uncomfortable is definitely the right word. It's like oh...they're serious...but...I guess they aren't serious? Okay...*twiddles thumbs*...so uh...yeah, that happened.

I think Oreimo is a really good example of how sticking to your guns (even with a hotly debated or frowned upon topic) can be pretty damn important to the overall reception of the conclusion.

It just feels like a cop-out that they expect us to understand any weakness in the ending simply because of the concepts being put in to play. They know that you'll think to yourself "Well...I mean it *is* a pretty testy subject, so I guess what they did is fine". Not me...I don't care who he's in love with, his own dang foot for all I care.

If you're going to begin and end an anime on the guise that the two protagonists (brother and sister) love one another in that way and that the anime is centralized around it at all...make it happen. Don't give us some stupid bullocks retreat in the final minutes and then blame it on public opinion. Don't expect that to bolster my respect for the show as a solid piece of art/entertainment any further.

I found a lot there to look at the industry and the fans, how things work, what is and is not acceptable for otaku and professionals, some semi-autobiographical bits about being a light novel author and anime adaptations. Strong female leads, role reversals, characters and an author that in my opinion, did stick to his guns, didn't bow to pressure and even death threats to have a Kuroneko ending. In many ways I saw more of this in earlier novels and the first season while the second season was mostly about the two of them and the ways in which the other relationships would eventually fail so it was far from perfect and is not a favorite series of mine but I saw much more there than simply moe.

The truth is, and I think many of you feel the same way about this, I don't especially hate incest in animes. Why I hate it in this particular situation is because it was Kirino and Kyousuke, and the way they acted about it.

Think about it, so throughout the whole series, Kyosuke helps everyone. He helps Ayase, Kuroneko, Saori, and even when he was young Manami. They all have great reasons to like him. And all those girls help or at least try to help Kyosuke and Kirino throughout the series.

Now look at Kirino. As far as I can remember she has only caused trouble for Kyosuke, making him fly out to America, dragging him around everywhere, insulting him left and right. She can never get along with Kuroneko, and when Kuroneko started going out with Kyosuke she made Kuroneko feel uncomfortable. If it wasn't for Kyosuke she would have remained at odds with Ayase, because apparently erotic video games are more important than her best friend. The only way they got over this also was that Ayase pretended to believe that it was Kyousuke's fault and not Kirino's and chose to ignore the fact she played erotic video games. Manami pretty much just wanted Kirino to understand that society looks down upon the type of relationship she wants with her brother, instead Kirino developed a one-sided hate for Manami, and then in that last episode of the OVA acted like a magnificent bitch which even pissed off Kyousuke.

As far as I can remember, Kirino has pretty much been acting like a brat the whole series and just having her ass saved by her brother and her friends. Then after everything Ayase and Kuroneko have done for Kyosuke, not to mention Manami, he turns them down in favor of this brat. He doesn't just turn them down, he turns them down knowing what he is doing is social unacceptable and is a huge betrayal toward them.

There you have it, the reason I hate this ending is because Kyosuke betrays some very fine women in order to make some erotic video game addict brat happy for two weeks. It being his sister has very little to do with it, it is pretty much everything about how irresponsible and annoying those two are about the whole thing.

Very excellent point.

Kirino didn't earn Kyousuke. She got him anyway. It's sort of like we're forced to make up our own fantasy circumstance in which what happened was really the best scenario for him. To tell ourselves that's really what we wanted to happen for him.

So I watched all 3 OVA episodes of the show, it was somewhat mediocre though. I wasn't feeling anything on how Kirino and Kyousuke just pretending to date. Some, well mostly, incest here XD. So I'll give this 7/10 as my final.

Honestly, everybody is on the hate train after that that last episode, but Manami jumped up to the top 3 for me after that...impressive display of passion.

Like, I honestly can't see how she isn't 3 times as sexy to everyone after that scene. She was such a BAMF.

Wait, are you saying people hate Manami more than they did in the final episode of S2 now? She jumped to the top for me with that episode and the last episode put her miles above the rest for me, except for the way they made her bow out like that >.> . Kyousuke is lame as hell for blowing her off for a temporary relationship with his sister, rofl.

A quick run of the comments under the video will yield you plenty of "Manami should go die" type comments. From my memory.

Okay, you want different spin on the Oreimo ending, I've got a crazy one: (warning that my theory below might ruin one's perception of it)

Maybe I'm stretching the details way too far to make the interpretation that I want, but that's up to you. If anyone who's read the novels can shoot a hole in it or offer further evidential support, it would be appreciated.

Yeah, checked quick, I believe that but not gonna sift through all of em since they're probably rated low and near the bottom by now. Anyways, I guess anyone that tells the MCs they're wrong, or disgusting is going to get hate. She was the only one who didn't just go along with this ridiculous setup.

I'd like to see someone in Kuroneko's position watching or helping her ex confess to his sister and her friend.

I'm guessing this has probably been talked about in this thread already, just happened to come in now though.
