Episode 15

Alright, I think my rated for AoT has gone down from 8/10 to 7.5/10. The pacing is really killing it for me. I don't mind an episode with no action and only talking, but more stuff needs to happen. The scene with Eren listing the member's kills and assists could have been used in the Halfway Intermission screens, and it would have been more appropriate than the information about the Wallists (still a silly now). Also the scenes with Bean and Sonny could have been half as long or even shorter.

Don't get me wrong, when the show gets good, it REALLY gets good. But the amount of slow episodes is really disappointing.

that is simply because the anime is following the manga almost too a tee, expect some rehashed flashbacks in the manga that can confuse you. the manga paces slow, so expect to be dissapointed then. That shouldn't lower the rating of it, you just have to enjoy the show, chill with the adhd.

Pacing will be less of an issue in a year or two when there are many episodes and people new to the show can just zip through the fillers. The main concern for this show (and most shows actually) is the quality of the story. I'm still looking for a good storyline and engaging characters but so far, nothing. Hopefully the story improves in this next arc.

I'm confused. If you don't feel any of the characters are engaging or the story line isn't good, why are you still watching?

I read the manga as well and it is only really slow become it comes out once a month with only ~45 pages as oppose to weekly with ~20 pages. Also, the pacing is part of a show, so if it isn't as good as it could be in someone's (my) opinion, then it would lower that person's rating of the show. And it only reduced it by .5-1 point, by biggest problem is the character development.

I actually feel the same way. I don't necessarily dislike the characters, it is just that most of them don't have much depth to them or are 1-dimensional, static characters (Mikasa). What makes the show good is the amazing animation and music. Also, the amount of emotion put in some scenes.

May I ask which characters you feel don't have enough depth?

Best example would be Mikasa. You can sum her up in one word, Eren. I understand why she is that way, don't get me wrong, but that is all there is to her other than the fact that she is exceptionally skilled (for no good reason that we know of so far). From episode 1 to 15, she is exactly the same. After all the stuff that she has experienced as a kid (in episode 1 and 2) and in the military, she has not grown as a character.

The anime died around episode 13. I think the anime could have ended when they sealed the wall. I don't have the same "feel" each week as the start of the anime. Then again I think the "hype" played a role as well.

I think some people miss one of the main focuses of this show entirely. Yes, the action is important, but it's not the only thing important about this show at all. The mystery plays an much bigger part in the second part of the anime. The Trost and Shiganshina parts was merely the introduction to the world of Attack on Titan. Just follow the ride, you'll see eventually what I'm prattling about. I hope.

(This response assumes you're up to date on the anime)

My friends told me to give it a chance I guess. I also think the setting is pretty good. I was expecting better story and characters.

I can understand the pacing issue, but I think things will start to pick up and be a bit more interesting now. Just need some patience, it's obvious that something is just around the corner. I'm just going off my own assumption though.

But now I'm caught up with the manga AND the anime for now, so I feel a bit at a loss in life
