I was expecting something more on par with Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, so I disappointed myself a fair bit.

Wasn't terrible, but I didn't think it was absolutely great either. Didn't laugh much.

To be honest I don't really like what they are doing with Armin. Yes I'll admit he was a whiny bitch at first, but they overexaggerate it.

That being said, they take on Jean? Glorious. Simply glorious. I won't accept an officially dubbed Jean who isn't a smug asshat like that at first.

Season 2 of AoT is gonna be epic.

...It will probably be out in 2 years though. Good thing the manga is available on here now.

I just watched the abridged series today. Good for quite a few laughs! I'll definitely be checking out the later episodes.

Don't know how many folks aside from people like me this is relevant to but the second Shingeki no Kyojin OST released back in October with 11 more of the tracks from the show (which I don't know if you payed attention, was mind blowing like most of his usual work). Important tracks to note...

- Eren "reveal" song (Mikasa in tears).
- Piano iterations of some of the "main" re-occurring themes.
- Few more "battle" and "looming danger" type songs like from the first one (all epic sounding).

Holdin' me over nicely until Kill la Kill's OST.

Make a better one, then.

Evangelion's OSTs, especially Rebuild's, are just as epic as AoT's. To name one example.

If the track you linked me is anything to be drawn upon...I'm sorry it just lacks something Hiroyuki wields like a weapon. Hiroyuki gives it a modern edge that makes it "cool". That music is certainly brooding and epic but it doesn't have that modern flare that Hiroyuki gives his music.

What you linked is kind of a joke compared to that. Sawano is literally (your god here)'s gift to anime soundtrack composition in this generation. Not to mention he's now built a resume on this stuff...Guilty Crown and Kill la Kill are also sporting mind blowing OSTs.

I'm an atheist, just wanted to mention that. Anyway, the OST I linked isn't a joke compared to anything. It's a nice soundtrack in its own right, same as AoT's. Not to mention, but with Rebuild's OST, there is a flair of that "modernism" you're talking about. Are you a Sawano worshiper, per chance? Because if you are, not matter what I post you'll always be biased towards whatever he composes, so there would be no use discussing this anymore. No offense, or anything, obviously.

Okay, so I did some reading. I think you're using an unfair comparison. You're using the soundtrack of a movie to compare to that of a TV show. We all know TV shows rarely have the kind of budget full feature films do. That's what makes Sawano's music so impressive. He gives us that movie epic feeling that we'd only naturally expect from movies, in TV shows.

Movies can have bad music too but generally (especially from Hollywood) we expect that stuff like it's run-of-the-mill. It has so much impact in an episodic format, and that's what Hiroyuki has kind of latched on to as is specialty.

And yes, I'm totally a fanboy of his music, but I'm not like, rabid. I can recognize good music when I hear it, no matter who it is.

Ah, then let me find a different OST (I could use Yuki Kajiura, but...)

I used Texhnolyze's OST. There.

And as long as you're not a rabid fan I think everything will be ok.
