Thankfully Mikasa is there to balance out the Eren whining and screaming(and I don't even mean during the scene with his mother.. in that situation it's understandable.)

Also I pretty much agree with everything you said here, though I felt like there was a few to many pan on stills. I hope they can minimize that because it got to be very noticeable.

They are just kids in the first episode. Soon when it gets into the story line it will be a couple of years into the future. Eren isnt as whiny then.

first episode definitely made an impact towards the end and damn the smiles of those titans are just creepy!
Too cruel at the end with Erens mother
But this series has got me hooked from the first ep, looks like it is going to be one epic ride!

I'm a big fan of the manga and I had insanely high expectations.. And I gotta say.. The first episode lived up to those expectations.. I loved pretty much everything about it.. I also liked the fact that they didn't censor it too much, because that is just stupid as ****
I will give the first episode 10/10!!!
So yeah..What else can I say..? I can't wait for the next episode!!!!

So, I finally watch the first show expecting it not to live up to the hype and I was not disappointed. It was okay but not amazing. I'll see how episode 2 and maybe episode 3 goes before deciding to drop it or not as I have no real interest in knowing how the storyline progresses at the moment. For a non-comedy show like this, that's pretty much a death warrant for me since that's a major factor in these types of shows and my first shows impressions of a show rarely changes. I sense some potential in it though, so I'll wait to decide.

Though, I do like Misaki. Originally, didn't like her but after I finished watching the show she grew on me. Plus, she's also the only character's name I remember from the show, especially since I suck at remembering names.

what is going to be expected in this anime is death ....

anyway... since I have yet to read all the manga I sure have a lot of question about those Titans since there are 2 types for now

and those wall , how in the world they made those, looks like giants made them.... Even the pyramids took alot of slaves and years and years to make.

Now, now, it's a bad decision that I watched it before going to bed now I can't sleep. >_<

The trolling expression of the titan when it ate Eren's mom.

But, but

The pilot episode was a BANG! I'll definitely put it in the top of my list for this season.

Titans VS Humans reminded me of the Oligarchs VS the Masses~ I can really relate when the supposed to be heroes returned.

Haven't read the manga but I sense something about his father. And 'The Room'.
Seems like he knows A LOT about the Titans~ 'cause he left before the invasion. A possible anti-hero.

Ah i see. Well either way i dont think its going to be more than 22 episodes.

25 episodes, right from the source, released on 9 Blu Ray/DVD volumes, last one shipping in March 2014, already up for order at amazon.co.jp et al, looks like 2 episodes each on discs 1 and 2, then 3 episodes each after that, I've said it before but you really know once it is up for sale on amazon!

I personally don't feel the protagonist has that prorogation feel

and

if his VA was anyone more screemish than the current one i'd probably rage about it

other than that the pilot episode was alright
~~~
so 25 episodes now the real discussion can occur
3 factors
how much fluff they will put in during certain sequences
or if and when they will deviate from the manga and go original ending
or if they can continue with the manga up to a certain cliff hanger ending that most will be satisfied
That was a really good opening episode. Eren seems like a naive, self-righteous protagonist who's going to be brought down to earth by tragedy. Mikasa comes across as someone who will probably be the most intelligent and competent character going forward. Their father also seems to be quite wise.
On the subject of the titans, I really like how they are handled. One really gets the sense they're these monsters that are going to eat you and everyone else in town. The smile on the one that ate Eren's mother really reminded me of the Mass Production Evas in End of Evangelion. Very creepy looking.
On top of that the animation excels. Although the character designs are different, it reminds me a lot of the animation in the Broken Blade movies from a couple of years ago. That they can have movie quality animation in a TV series is quite extraordinary.
Overall, I'd say this is looking really good and will probably be the best show of this season, unless something unexpected crops up.
There has been word that Crunchyroll was fighting tooth and nail to get this series. Right now, it's not happening yet.
There have been some updates, though. Like the series will be simulcast/streamed on Wakamin.TV. A french website.
Also, there are words as well that NicoNico will also get the license to stream it and they will stream it on the 12th i believe.
These things happening is starting to get my hopes up again that someday, maybe crunchyroll will be able to finally seal the deal with MBS.
Not going to happen tbh, MBS are withholding streaming rights for the most anticipated non-sequel anime this season. Enjoy your piracy studio, because you arent going to make money out of it anywhere but japan. Seriously, its almost like they want to give the pirates legitimate excuses
Are you serious? I thought that was a joke when I first heard it, but I suppose not.
I can't imagine what they're thinking withholding rights, there are times I can totally see why shows don't get streams but this seems pretty stupid, especially considering it's such a big show.
Hope they change their minds about it, I was actually really excited for this one.
I sub to CR and Funi but have my other alt.site to watch if they dont steam a title.
The chapters tend to be a lot longer than that of typical manga with around 25 pages. So they might not need to fluff things too much, but expanding on scenes isn't inherently bad.
As far as endings go that's a toss up, I don't really have a preference since I've only read 2 volumes.
