let me say a lot of people die hint: people in the op. I leave it up to you guys to decipher who dies.

i was about to put everything in a spoiler on the next post haha

i would presume only eren mikasa and arwin make it to the end possible arwin death but i cant see mikasa and eren dying there like the romantic couple of the series like your ed and winry from fma were at the end they will confess

Let me preface this by saying that I have read the manga up to the latest chapter and will make some comments about what happens later on (but they will be flagged as spoilers)

So (and this a serious question), why do people like Eren? The writers obviously wanted to portray him as a naive kid who doesn't know or understand the strength of the titans in comparison to his. This results in him being overconfident and reckless, feeling that human can fight back against the titan now and spouting nonsense like how he will kill all of the titan (Spoiler Alert)
He charges headlong into battle in a blind rage because his partner is killed and causes his entire team to be killed when they follow his lead. This would be a perfect time for Eren to see how powerless he is. With one leg bitten off, he is left to sit and witness first hand how his actions caused his team to be killed and is unable to help them, bringing him back down to reality and making him see he still has a long way to go to become stronger and become more level-headed and rational. But no, instead

Big Spoiler (Later on in the manga)

So to sum this all up, Eren had so much potential that was just thrown away to make him your stereotypical Shounen lead and for that he is my 2nd least favorite main character in the show (first is Armin).

The colossal kicked one of those wall protrusions exposing one town to the titans. As they were evacuating the armored titan tackled down the closed gate (once connecting the town to the rest of wall Maria). No more gate to keep titans locked in the town they invaded they continued to invade the rest of Maria...news is slow so the other towns didn't know to close their gates (as if it would have matted anyway).

At a guess those villages were abandoned.

Cut off from the farms or any other kind of support the people living there would starve, if the Titans didn't smash their way into those during the 5 year gap.

If there is anyone still living in those places, they must be living like refugees, eating rats....or each other

Sick thing is when you think about the purpose of those protruding villages. Here is our Giant freaking wall protecting all of humanity, but we have these four bubbles sticking out, filled with people.

Those villages are bait, something for the Titans to focus on so we don't have to worry about them putting a whole in some unseen part of the main wall where nobody would find out about it for weeks.

I like how they remove the MC shield on episode 5 because now I can't as easily predict what while happen during the rest of the show.
