Well from the manga , there is a 5 year time skip from the time of the attack , so at this part they are about 10 or 11. years old...

I havent read far yet but if we follow the manga, in Episode 2 the first half is in the manga and then the 5 year time skip happens ...it only mentioned in half a page the 4 years ago attemt to reclaim the lost territories.

and thank goodness Kaji kun lowered his voice...

I am glad CR will be streaming it... so I dont have to

Do we know when the eps will be posted? It's supposed to be today, but I don't see a time for it anywhere.

Yeah, they haven't confirmed the time yet. From the original release: [http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-799349/new-spring-titles-attack-on-titan]

Attack on Titan will broadcast every Sunday afternoon pacific time starting on April 14 with episode 1, and 2 for premium members - with an exact broadcast time to be confirmed at a later point [...]

Pacific time which means it's 9:21 AM for them (12:21 PM ET for me). They're probably uploading & encoding it right now for release later this afternoon (afternoon to them).

here's CR's link to the 1st video. http://www.crunchyroll.com/attack-on-titan/episode-1-623251
You can also type in Attack on Titan in their search. Don't know why the page isn't showing up on their front page.

I think this ep is on par, if not better than the first ep of Gargantia... O.o

I'd hope it would keep up the pace but I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of mulling over hopelessness and loss, which is fine, but the first episode threw everything at you that keeping the pace would be incredibly difficult.

I'm all for a strong storyline too but I don't want this series to fall flat, it's been the only anime to interest me so much in years. They really need to make more series like this and less teen/loli ones.

It's character development time. The next few eps will be training/overcoming emotional and physical hurdles and then once our characters are past that, they'll start fighting the good fight. I haven't read the manga or anything, but that's typically how these go. They may throw in some curve balls that I'm not expecting, though.

They have 25 episodes to work with so they don't have to rush into them taking the fight to the Titans. Looks like a pretty big time skip as it is.
