Best example would be Mikasa. You can sum her up in one word, Eren. I understand why she is that way, don't get me wrong, but that is all there is to her other than the fact that she is exceptionally skilled (for no good reason that we know of so far). From episode 1 to 15, she is exactly the same. After all the stuff that she has experienced as a kid (in episode 1 and 2) and in the military, she has not grown as a character.

I agree. It seems the characters we know more about are pretty dry such as Eren, Armin, Mikasa. But the characters that haven't revealed too much about themselves are very interesting (or could be potentially interesting when we find out more). I've read the spoilers so I kind of know who is gonna do what eventually. But so far, the story has been very underwhelming, but the positive is that the story is still at such an infancy stage that it can easily potentially become very good soon. This is only based on the first 14 espidoes as I have not read the manga. All I know is the titan origins and the adventures outside the walls better be amazing.

I've watched other shows that struggled for the first 15-20 episodes but eventually found its comfort zone and developed into great series, so I'm hoping AoT will be the same.

Anime Hanji is no longer allowed to carry any episodes. Not until the animators realize (s)he's not a comic relief character. And the English language really needs a non-gender-specific pronoun. It's kind of awkward as-is.

This episode gives us that big pile of info I was talking about a few pages back..

There is a lot of important info there even if none of it makes sense yet.

The anime died around episode 13. I think the anime could have ended when they sealed the wall. I don't have the same "feel" each week as the start of the anime. Then again I think the "hype" played a role as well.

I feel the same now regardless its still a good anime but it maybe just dropped a bit of anticipation.

if this anime keeps following the manga, there will be plenty of action/ intrigue. Enough for many to rethink what you have thought or said.
Plus, the manga is way down the road, it will be awhile before the anime will catch up. Hold on.

Just a friendly reminder, Hanji Zoe is not confirmed to be male or female. Kind of gross when you see people claiming her to be their "waifu".

She's female...

Last I heard the author had stated that Hanji's gender was intentionally ambiguous/unstated. That said, does Hanji remind anyone else of a psychotic Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus? I can't shake that thought off.

LOL nice comparison, never expected to see someone mention The Magic School Bus in this forum.

She's not confirmed to be female. In the manga, gender neutral language is intentionally used so that you don't know the gender. When a fan asked Isayama sensei about Hanji's gender, he refused to answer. At anime expo, the anime director was asked the same exact question and he cited it as "a secret". I don't think Hanji is simply a female, unless they are being massive trolls for no apparent reason. Everyone else uses their normal gender language and have confirmed genders.

I think making a point out of Hanji's androgyny fits in with the rest of the cast's idiosyncrasies, especially within the scouting legion. Although it could also be a very conscious dig at the irrelevance of gender to character.

I see. Well then, for now Hange is an "it". I'll go along with that.

Even if it wasn't confirmed that Hanji Zoe is a boy or a girl, she's obviously a girl!
