Ok so i just checked it again. It seems i might have been wrong. You cant exactly see the moment it happens, so could have been either foot or arm. Oh and it was episode 21.

Aynyone get a gif or screen capture of Mikasa's crazy eyes, awesomeness right there.

I kinda wish Eren did die way back in the beginning now, his indecisiveness and b***hness has become annyoning. Leaves me wishing someone else gains the ability to transform and actually does things right.

Still liked the episode tho.

Nononono what we need a gif of is Hanji's :3 face while waiting for Annie to fall into the trap.

Yes! I wholeheartedly agree! That was hilarious :3
Hanji has become one of my fav characters, after Sasha :3

God Damn Mikasa was scary this episode

"You don't have any special feelings for Annie ...do you Eren?"

as if Annie wasn't in enough trouble already, Mikasa just has to flip her Yandere switch to full

I can just see her now standing over the bodies of every other woman in the series
"They were looking at you Eren, they were obviously Titans Eren. You believe me don't you Eren."

Oh this show.. really fantastic every episode has left me either sad or worked up.. either way I have a really hard time waiting a week for the next episode haha. Eren's bi$&hiness has made me want to hit him on multiple occasions but overall this really is going to be the anime I judge most others against for quite a while I can't recall a story I have enjoyed so much.

I am a bit curious about what people think Titan Annie's motivation is.. and sadly as I imagine there is only a single episode left we aren't going to get to dive in to that. I don't even know if the Manga goes in to it as many have mentioned that the anime is catching up rather quickly though if it is addressed I may have to go check it out.

Anyway... does anyone here think commander Erwin is anywhere near as badass as Levi? ... I wasn't sure what to think when they brought his personal equipment in that case heh

In the manga that question was answered very recently actually.

Am I the only one here who thinks this anime seems a little....... facist ?

Depends on what you mean by the term. Can you elaborate?

Well I mean it's very very pro-state. It's unlike Fullmetal Alchemist or Gurren Lagann in the sense that they were both very pro - individual ie: "believe in the you that believes in you", "you've got two feet, use them". In SNK we see that anyone that criticizes the military is depicted as either a coward or a greedy person, and that humanity's governing body has practically no flaws. We see the soldiers depicted as tragic heroes while their enemies are seen as vicious inhuman monsters. It also criticizes religion far differently, or even more radically than FMA or TTGL, showing that basically preaching gets you eaten and "prayers won't solve anything" (that quote was taken directly from the translation of the first opening theme). The only religion seen in SNK is one that believes that the walls were built by God, from that one can infer religion creates walls . But it is not the will of the individual that escapes these walls, it is rather the military, to bring further glory to the state. Now don't take this the wrong way, I don't think that this necessarily makes SNK bad, but I do think it was rather odd and I just wanted to bring it up.

Well, that's an interesting perspective and take on the show. I disagree with what you said about it being depicted as pro-state or pro-military though (for several reasons) but I do see what made you think it is because there were parts in the show and manga that I honestly thought were preachy like when Eren insults the Wallists during the courtroom scene. I actually dropped the series once because having the series begin with a kid scolding AND insulting an adult is just... Really, Eren? Really? It was so, idk, typically shounen and self-righteous. But then again, I caved in a few weeks later and read the manga up to the last available chapter. I found that the messages of the show were delivered in somewhat extremist ways but I personally think that it's one of its charms. Idk maybe the show was written based on Eren's perspective. If that's the case, then AOT being a bit 'fascist' makes sense, I guess. Having said that, it is indeed a bit odd to see subliminal messages in an anime where humans fight naked giants with giant boxcutters. Also, you gotta wonder if the author just likes to rouse the audience's emotion or he's secretly taking a jab at real life's conventional ways.

I think they should rename the title of episode 24 from "Mercy" to "Those eyes O_O".

Because let me tell ya, the girls in this episode scared the hell outta me with those close ups.

I kind of see what you mean when you put it that way. but. honestly. Many political and cultural systems of belief are collectivist and pro-state or 'the people'. And I don't see the military as portrayed in SNK glorifying the state or much of anything.

The people in SNK are mostly a sorry lot, it's implied they are taken advantage of and treated with contempt by their 'betters'
The military comes in three flavours:

a) a Corrupt and self serving 'Elite'
b) a Mass of second raters who tend to demonstrate a distinct lack of courage. Even many of their officers are hidebound and suffer from moral panic.
c) Noble explorer/conquerors who constantly give their all. But FAIL. also constantly.

None of those reflects a portrayal of the military that you'd expect from a fascist. Worship of the military is the thing (to me) that distinguishes Fascism from say Stalinist communism. NOT worship of the state. Nor a collectivist outlook.

It's a respect and glorification of the military that borders on religion. Hitler gassed on about how military service was an essential right of passage that put pride in a young man's step and discipline in his attitudes. He, Mussolini and Franco all LOVED uniforms. and created uniformed services to fulfill civil needs all over the place.

I don't get that feel from SNK. certainly not at the level of Verhoeven's version of Starship Troopers.

I knew Mikasa had Yandere potential from the first episode. ( And I still can't read her name without thinking of crystal dinner ware)

Finally saw this week's episode... damn...

The makers sure do love their cliffhangers.

Don't forget the odd inversion of priorities in the skills of the military in AoT. The Military Police mainly are supposed to protect the rich elite in the inner wall(I would assume from other people, as just look at how they reacted to Annie's Titan form and the fact that they all carry rifles), yet the best way to get into the MP is being good at the 3D maneuver gear, and not combat, while the Garrison and especially the Survey Corps is stacked with people good at combat but either pretty bad at the 3DMG or not that proficient with it. It is kinda why those two groups have lots of casualties(I've noticed most of the characters who died in these two branches died because they made mistakes using their gear).

Really the MP people should be fighting the Titans because they can maneuver around to their weak spots better and people like Reiner or Eren or a good chunk of the introduced Survey Corps people should be MP because they know how to fight other people.

Well it was damn good filler though. I like how it shows the humanity of Eren and how he struggles. I don't care who you are, if you're about to kill one of your best friends you're going to have some second thoughts.

I don't think Annie was never really Eren's best friend, I mean in my eyes they were barely friends. And I would empathize more with Eren on the whole not killing your friends thing but seeing even Armin ready to kill Annie made me feel like Eren could easily kill her too especially he has more tempered, "I will kill them all" mentality. Not to mention she killed like the whole team that he was on
Actually I'm still surprised that Armin didn't hesitate while Eren did.

Shōnen, shonen, or shounen manga (少年漫画 shōnen manga?) is manga marketed to a male audience aged roughly 13 and up. The Kanji characters (少年) literally mean "few" and "year", respectively, where the characters (漫画) generally mean "comic". The complete phrase literally means "young person's comic" or simply "boys' comic".

like Naruto, DBZ, One Piece, etc.

those "other" titles will fall under:

Seinen manga (青年漫画?) is a subset of manga that is generally targeted at a 18–30 year old male audience, but the audience can be older with some manga aimed at businessmen well into their 40s. In Japanese, the word Seinen means "young man" or "young men" and is not suggestive of sexual matters. (The female equivalent to seinen manga is josei manga.)

like Hellsing, Elfen Lied, Ghost in the Shell, etc.

...oh! and, you know, there's lots of other genres.
