Well, SAO is a light novel adaptation so not really seinen. MAL calls it shounen... I call it neither. Manga from seinen magazines just does poorly when adapted to anime overall these days. Light novels with similar topics can do better for some reason. SAO is action romance and yet it sold well. It has a game aspect but so does BTOOOM! Just more popular I guess.

Edit... and, if making me want to buy the manga makes it a successful show, then it was a successful show! Just ordered them all, I just have to know how it ends...

Really enjoyed this show. It's not a masterpiece in storytelling by far but the characters are interesting and it's a lot of fun. 6.5/10

I will give this a 7/10. I was pleasantly surprised by this. Iwai is so kawaii! Her and Kotoura make you just want to give them a big ole hug. I wouldn't mind reading the manga but I don't have time to learn Japanese right now so guess I'll have to wait and see what happens in the future.

Anyway, there parts of this show that I enjoyed, and parts that were very creepy, and fetishistic, even skeevy. I'd probably watch a second season, but only because I want to know what the hell is really going on.

Yup, u took the words right out of my mouth! Quite honestly, though, this is probably my least favorite or one of my least favorite shows of the season, but it did still have some parts that I really enjoyed, too. And since everyone seems to be rating this, I think I'd give it a 6.5/10.

Also, does anyone know the reasoning why Iwai-chan's hair didn't grow back (near the beginning of ep 10 where she wakes up and gets out of bed)? I think it was mentioned that it might have something to do with her meeting Witchy? Anyone have any other ideas about that, or why her hair decided to grow back shortly after when Grayland Kiri cut a piece of her hair in ep 13? Only things I can think of were that it had something to do with how her mindset was due to the fear that had been instilled in her from the Crime Edge, or possibly because it was the midnight hour and that's when it normally grows back - but if that was the case, why didn't it grow back before in ep 10?

Least favorite show?

I just got manga volumes 1-7 plus 7.5 GuideBook and the Anthology! In reading the manga when she wakes up with her hair having stopped growing she is shocked and surprised and doesn't know the reason for it. Then, as you say it suddenly grows again when he cuts her hair once Grayland is in Da House. It has to do with the curse. I will need to rewatch the episode but in the manga Iwai actually says, when the curse is back and her hair is growing again that she thinks it is a good thing.

Volumes 5-7 continue the story, I'm so happy! And I will get 8 when it comes out! Won't be buying the discs for this one but the manga is good!

In some ways it is interesting the similarities, both are seinen, both are action/romance with fights, both ended with a kiss that's in the middle of the manga, both had poor sales of discs but the manga continue...

Differences are... Crime Edge has enough to do a 2nd season soon (one more volume, out soon I presume) while BTOOOM! used up almost all the material and would have to wait. In BTOOOM! the anime kiss was with the expected characters while Crime Edge the kiss pairing was quite a surprise!

Haha, yeah, I had to pick some shows to be at or near the bottom of my favorites list for the Spring season, lol. I think Majestic Prince was the only one I thought was worse (what I saw of it - like 5 eps), and possibly Flowers of Evil since I got a little bored with the series maybe half-way through.

And yeah, that's a good way to see it: "that the curse is back." So now the main thing is to find out how it got broken in the first place. If u find out, please do let me know!

Fixed that.

MP definitely ranks lower in terms of what I've watched this season. Several things rank above Crime Edge, but it kept my interest, and was different enough that in terms of general rating I'd put it at least "above average" in terms of my like for it.

Only 365???? Damn

chances of a second season just dropped like a rock, which I think is kind of regretful

and since it was brought up, I'll just say I honestly didn't like the Btooom anime (having read the manga which I thought was just ok)
