Hi I'm looking for ways to catalog the manga (or anime) that i have purchased so i can know what i do have and dont have while out shopping or at a convention. I want to know, what do you guys use, and how effective you believe it is.

Personally i have been looking around online for an android app that lets me use a barcode scanner to automatically add to my "owned" list, but thus far no luck.
(this spoiler is a link to an example of what got me spoiled)

Don't know much about android but is there a way to add text or adobe documents on it? If yes, just create an alphabetized list of what you have on your phone. I personally look up new releases before going to the store. I very rarely just go and browse.

I used to use mymangalist.net This was back before android phones and iphones and crap though.

I'm pretty sure I have about 90% of my stuff cataloged. I forgot about the site and acquired quite a few more books that I never added.

If you make a list on there, and you have a smartphone, it's not that hard to just pull up your profile and take a look and see what you have.

If there would be an app to index my complete store I would use it, but there is no decent one.
So I have to organize it by having a meaningful structure in the store itself.

I just wanted to say thank you all for your feedback and comments. im thinking of doing what " m4xwellmurd3r " said in their last sentence and am currently making a myanimelist.com account for what i own. i heard they have a manga section. otherwise i may make another anime-planet.com account. 1 for seen and 1 for own. but again i thank you.

Lol, I just keep a list in my notebook (like I do for books I read!).

I do have an account on My Anime List.

I keep everything on MyAnimeList. There's actually an option for you to put things in as something you've purchased. However, I'm not entirely sure if you can access that separately (and if it isn't a feature, it probably used to be one they removed because it made the site to slow or for some other ridiculous reason.) To counter this probable lack if you're planning on using it to catalog everything you've ever read or seen, the best way would probably mark it in the tags section, which you can keep showing.

I personally went through and only have things cataloged as purchased in the special section, but I don't own enough to have an issue remembering what it is I do have.
