Both anim00z' pilot episodes turned the world upside down
(okay a little exaggeration but whatever)
easily becoming favorites of almost everyone who'd seen them.

But my question is, which one was better?
Which one was more epic?
Which one was more groundbreaking?
Which one was more goosebumps-worthy?

And do you think AOT will achieve the same success as SAO and more?
Discuss.

I liked AOT episode one more, but maybe im only saying that because its a new anime. Regarding success, i think they will be somewhat in the same league.

I haven't watched AOT yet. The trailer was like OH MY GOD WHAT IS THIS PERFECTION, so I'm guessing it's good.

I finished to watch SAO yesterday. Overall it was nice and had a proper ending.
As AOT just had its first episode run, I will supress the urge to judge it now... but I have some hopes for it.

Don't know. I don't like to watch shows as they air because cliff hangers suck. I'll let you know when the show wraps lol

I think Attack On Titan has the potential to be a better adaptation than Sword Art Online, but we'll have to see how well they adapt the anime from the source in totality.

Comparing to the two pilot episodes I'd say they're equal. But I will say that I think AOT's source material is of significantly better quality and depth than SAO's. Therefore, I think AOT has an edge on being a better show as a whole (again, depending on how well they bring it to anime).

AOT is definitely off to an excellent start, but really I thought the same of SAO and then was seriously disappointing with the whole fairy world bullshit and the sister/brother love story which was so poorly written/executed.

However, my prediction is that AOT will not have as large of a fanbase as SAO and will not be as popular as SAO was/is.

That typically happens. Example: horrible, mind numbing, intellectually vapid pop music is bought and loved by millions while excellent pop, jazz, or rock music that is well written with intelligent lyrics and complex instrumentation labors among only a few thousand fans.

AOT's source material is not as broadly friendly as SAO's is and SAO brought together two love interests that struck a cord with a HUGE number of people (including me). I think SAO appeals to most intellectual levels where as AOT will appeal to a narrower intellectual level and one that can tolerate violence, death, and gore more.

After reading AOT's source material these past few days, I honestly don't think it will have as broad of an appeal as SAO.

Just my opinion and willing to be wrong.

No ego.

I always had the possiblity in my mind that SAO might have turned out terrible if they took it the wrong direction (Which they did) right from episode 1. I mean, it was a cool episode and all but it wasn't exactly intellectual social commentary

However, I don't see Titan screwing up. It's obvious to me that the show is way too intelligent to suffer the same fate as SAO.

So, Titan gets the win

I didn't honestly think SAO picked up until episode 3, even though episode 1 was good, it was exactly what I expected. AoT was a lot more suspenseful and epic on its first episode.

Side note: I wish the titans looked a little less awkward. That last one was plenty scary though.
