They even included the Cthulhu Dice game and another shot of the RPG.

Episode 1:

Feels like they upped the insanity 2 fold just this first episode alone
And so many freakin references, there were parts where I knew it was referencing something but I had no clue what lol

Next episode please

And the new girl in the intro looks like an older Kuko (reddish pink hair and matching black fire hair ribbons) so I'm guessing older sister or her future self haha

I didn't catch that one, but there Sasami-san @Ganbarai was one of the ones I couldn't think of. It was either in the next episode trailer or the END.

Sooo many references. Even a Ghost in the Shell with "The net is vast."

Still, the Bewitched was totally unexpected and awesome. And, like the previous season, the references will just keep coming. I can't wait to see what they spring on us next.

Loved it and noticed Bewitched! Trivia is that the origin of magical girl anime is actually imported from Bewitched... Nyarkosan is not exactly a magical girl but I thought it was funny.

Really funny stuff! She is so powerful and yet she is stopped by the fork!

Ah, I did not know that bit of trivia. Fascinating.

First episode not that spectacular, but the main point is getting started.
Will stick with it for a few more episodes, but may drop it when story is lame.

Eh really? I thought magical-girls were around before the 60s. Bewitched started in 1964. If thats so, then its kinda cool than a US tv show spawned such a popular genre.

Sally the Witch in 1966 is considered the first magical girl anime according to wikipedia at least and was directly influenced by Bewitched.

MADOKA MAGICA SPOILERS

Of course anime in general came from Walt Disney, big eyes and all that. The original Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies were animated in Japan. Everything is in a big circle, all connected...

Yes.. Yes it is. Though I suspect Lovecraft is spinning in his grave like the the turbine shaft of the Alert fleeing Ry'leh.

personally I love this series as the ultimate expression of anime ShojouMorphism.

It's funny one time while trying to explain Saber Marionette J to a friend with no anime knowledge I reverted to saying

"I dream of Jeanie, but Larry Hagman finds THREE bottles on the beach"

As I repeat more than I should, there are no original plots left, only good and bad execution of previous plots and tropes, deconstructions of deconstructions, self parodies... I find the execution of this one to be great!

And I love Kana Asumi's voice even though I now think of her as Namika from Boku no Imouto wa Asaka Okan whenever I hear Nyarkosan speaking. I'm sure after a few more episodes she will be Nyarkosan again...
